Deon McCaulay is Leading Scorer | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Belize takes on the United States tomorrow for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.  Deon McCaulay is the leading scorer for the qualifying rounds, and he got a great write up on Goal.com.  The game will be shown most everywhere in Cayo tomorrow.  It starts at 7:00pm.

"Who is the leading scorer in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying?  No, it's not Clint Dempsey.  It's not Chicharito . Nor is it an MLS standout like Blas Perez, Jerry Bengtson or Alvaro Saborio.  It's Deon McCaulay from unheralded Belize.  OK, so all of his 11 goals came in the lightweight, first two rounds of qualifying, and four of them came against Montserrat.  McCaulay did manage to hit Guatemala for two goals in the second round, though, and he is not a complete unknown, as he trialed with the Portland Timbers in February.  The 25-year-old has plenty to play for, as a good showing against the USA, Cuba or Costa Rica could land him on a few more MLS radars."
