Happy September! There's a lot going on this year to celebrate. The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Associations made sure there will be plenty of events in Santa Elena, and they'll be having their own parade on the 10th.

CNWA Safety Day

The Cayo Neigborhood Watch Association had their Cayo Safety Day last weekend, and there was a huge turnout for the fun, games, and displays.  They had a karate exposition too, performed by the Kazoku Shotokan Dojyo.  Thanks, CNWA!

The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association is having their Cayo Safety Day tomorrow at the Cayo Welcome Center.  They'll have music, dancing, and plenty of information about safety.  The fun actually begins at 9:00am with a parade that will start at the police station..

Special Constables Receive Flashlights

The special constables received flashlights recently, which will help them perform their duties better and safer. 

 

"On the 2nd September 2013 the Cayo Special Constables Association handed over flashlights the the special constables present.  Mr Alberto Palma the chair man of the association did the handing over.  This was made possible thru fundraising the SC did.  Mr Palma would like to thank all those persons who supported them.  Several of the flashlights where donated by the Cayo Neighbourhood Watch Association.  The flashlights will be used by the SC's while performing duties along with the San Ignacio Police."

The new evidence room for the police was handed over by the People's Coalition of Cayo, and the Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association was there to get pictures of the event.

 

"CNWA was present at the PCC handing over ceremony of the new evidence room that shall provide additional space inside the main building of the Police station and also provide better evidence to court with less tampering."

CNWA Grant Progress

The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association Executive Board met with the US Embassy to talk about the grant, and how well it's been used so far.  They have a great mission!  'To inspire, encourage, and empower the people of Cayo to unite to become one voice; Neighbors looking out for Neighbors; deeply committed to serving our community and our beloved country: Belize.'

 

"CNWA Executive board had a wonderful meeting with our contacts from the US Embassy and their team from Washington.  They came to see how the grant money was being handled and what it was used for.  They were very impressed with CNWA and the work we do."

The CNWA had their 1st annual Miss Neighborhood Watch Queen pageant last night in Santa Elena.  They got plenty of fun pictures from the event.


"Zone 10 NW group, part of the Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association held their First Annual Miss Neighborhood Watch Queen Pageant... it was so much fun, not even the rain stopped the show!  Santa Elena people are not stopped by rain, what a great time, thank you to Zone 10 for putting this together!  Great job!!"

Graffiti Cover-up Painting Project

The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association and the SISE police force worked together - painted together - on the Grafitti Cover-up Painting project.  They painted over the grafitti at the Hawkesworth Bridge and other areas around Cayo.  A big thanks to all involved in this great project!


"San Ignacio /Santa Elena police officers together with a few dedicated CNWA members went out early morning to do some community service by painting over a few areas highly hit with graffiti.  A big THANK YOU to all those that participated either in painting or by donating paint and equipment. "

Feelgood news of the day.  The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association had their football distribution at Galvez Stadium, and they made a lot of kids very happy.  Thanks, CNWA!

 

"We had the football distribution this past Saturday with those schools and teams that attended.  Not as many showed up as we expected but we know it was largely due to the postponement the previous week because of weather and a number of other reasons some couldn't make it this time.  Still had a great time with those that could and did show up."

The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association met Wednesday, and they distributed cameras and flashlights to all the neighborhood watches that were present.  They usually meet on the middle Wednesday of each month.  If you'd like to join your local neighborhood watch, they'd love to have you help keep Cayo crime free.

The Falcon Field Neighborhood Watch, one of the newer of the 20 or so neighborhood watches around Cayo, has gotten their 8 signs, and has been setting them up around the area.  The neighborhood watches are working, and crime is down by 20%.  Keep up the great work!

 

"On Monday night we were given our 8 signs which we were more than anxious to put up the following day.  Mr. Bart and Cheming did all the work. Eva and I were there for the pics and emotional support.  We are truly grateful to them and on behalf of the entire group I would like to extend an enormous thank you to them.  Now the whole country can see that we The Falcon Field N.W. are serious and committed to keeping OUR neighbourhood SAFE."

The Women's Month Bike Ride was a success.  The Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association along with the women's group and others held the event last weekend.

 

"Community Policing and CNWA teamed up with the Women's Group for a ride in Town. After that we went on an extended ride with those that wanted to join us. A group of 7 riders plus ATV with camera person."

The CNWA has a page where you can follow them and keep updated with their current events.  Their next meeting is tomorrow night at the police station.  They also supported the peaceful demonstration today at CET.  Keep up the great work, CNWA!

 

"Christmas has passed and so has new year but CNWA is still alive so it's monthly meeting time again.  Tomorrow night, Wednesday January 16th at 7:30PM at the police station conference room.  This will be our first meeting of 2013.  We will be issuing out the radios that we showed you guys at our December meeting.  So there will also be a short quick training on the usage of them."
