Precisamente Cataluña, más concreto Girona, acoge la tercera Conferencia Mundial sobre Ayahuasca del 31 de mayo al 2 de junio de 2019. Una de las principales finalidades de este evento es “internacionalizar el mensaje positivo de la ayahuasca, desde el plano psicoterapéutico, sanitario, judicial y antropológico”, explica Daniel Vilosa, responsable de prensa de la Conferencia. “La idea es que la gente que consume ayahuasca es drogadicta. En realidad, la ayahuasca es una práctica ritual de las comunidades indígenas, cuyos líderes la consumían para la toma de decisiones. La gente se colocaba para tomar decisiones, para encontrar claridad emocional”, comenta Vilosa, que reconoce que él nunca la ha probado.

El responsable de prensa señala que “en el plano judicial, la ayahuasca no es ilegal en sí misma”. Lo que está prohibido es “el consumo de DMT, una sustancia alucinógena presente en una de las dos plantas con las que se prepara la ayahuasca”.
