The Short Film is an important message of the Indigenous Elder Mamo Rumaldo Lozano Gil guardian of the sacred site TEYUNA (The Lost City) in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, #Colombia. This message is about the root of our climate crisis and an invitation to take care of Nature, Trees, Water, Quartz, and Gold.
Yagé is Our Life is a documentary film captured in the Putumayo region of Colombia. For centuries the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon have been using yagé (sometimes known as ayahuasca) for the health, social cohesion and spiritual guidance of their communities. Yagé is rich in the potent psychedelic substance DMT and for these indigenous groups it is sacred, allowing them access to ancient wisdom and the spirits of nature. In their ceremonies, the taitas or traditional doctors use yagé to treat their patients for physical and emotional illnesses and as a guide for making decisions.
The communities are now facing many new threats to their traditional way of life. Primarily, the commercialisation of their yagé medicine and foreign pressures exerted on their homelands by industrialised civilisation. This film gives indigenous leaders from the region a platform to discuss these issues and the importance of yagé as a living tradition in their communities.

Yagé es Nuestra Vida es una película documental filmado en la región de Putumayo en Colombia. Durante siglos, los pueblos indígenas de la Amazonía han estado utilizando el yagé (a veces conocido como ayahuasca) para la salud, la cohesión social y la guía espiritual de sus comunidades. Yagé es rico en la potente sustancia psicodélica DMT y para estos grupos indígenas es sagrado, lo que les permite acceder a la sabiduría ancestral y a los espíritus de la naturaleza. En sus ceremonias, las taitas o los médicos tradicionales usan el yagé para tratar a sus pacientes por enfermedades físicas y emocionales y como guía para tomar decisiones.
Las comunidades ahora enfrentan muchas amenazas nuevas a su forma de vida tradicional. Principalmente, la comercialización de su medicina yagé y las presiones extranjeras ejercidas en sus países de origen por la civilización industrializada. Esta película ofrece a los líderes indígenas de la región una plataforma para discutir estos temas y la importancia del yagé como una tradición viva en sus comunidades.

Suicide is a major public health problem. Given increasing suicide rates and limitations surrounding current interventions, there is an urgent need for innovative interventions for suicidality. Although ayahuasca has been shown to target mental health concerns associated with suicidality (i.e., depression and hopelessness), research has not yet explored the impact of ayahuasca on suicidality. Therefore, we conducted secondary analyses of a randomized placebo-controlled trial in which individuals with treatment-resistant depression were administered one dose of ayahuasca (n = 14) or placebo (n = 15). Suicidality was assessed by a trained psychiatrist at baseline, as well as 1 day, 2 days, and 7 days after the intervention. A fixed-effects linear mixed model, as well as between and within-groups Cohen's d effect sizes were used to examine changes in suicidality. Controlling for baseline suicidality, we found a significant effect for time (p p = .088). At all time points, we found medium between-group effect sizes (i.e., ayahuasca vs. placebo; day 1 Cohen’s d = 0.58; day 2 d = 0.56; day 7 d = 0.67), as well as large within-group (ayahuasca; day 1 Cohen's d = 1.33; day 2 d = 1.42; day 7 d = 1.19) effect sizes, for decreases in suicidality. Conclusions: This research is the first to explore the impact of ayahuasca on suicidality. The findings suggest that ayahuasca may show potential as an intervention for suicidality.
