Facebook has expanded its ban on the sale of piracy-enabling streaming devices. According to the company's latest commerce policies, all streaming devices that use Kodi software are now outlawed, which logically also applies to the many legal streaming boxes that are available.

A Texas District Court has sanctioned TVAddons operator Adam Lackman for failing to disclose evidence requested by Dish. Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN has scored a partial victory against Usenet provider Newsconnection. The Court of Appeal ruled that the company must ensure that it can identify potential infringers. Newsconnection is not required to implement the strict measures BREIN requested, but the court made it clear that pirates shouldn't be anonymous.

TWO Brits have been jailed for distributing illegal "full-loaded" Kodi set-top boxes that give access to pirated TV shows and movies. Glenn Burrows and Darren Wicks were sentenced at Norwich Crown Court today as part of an ongoing crackdown on online piracy in the UK.

It's hard to spot consistent trends in the mass influx of DMCA takedown notices Google receives. One thing is pretty clear though, the search engine consistently refuses to remove The Pirate Bay's homepage from its index. This, despite dozens of attempts from a wide variety of copyright holders over the years.

Scammers, masquerading as legitimate copyright holders such as Netflix and Disney, are using Google DMCA takedown tools to manipulate search results. Some webmasters complain that hundreds of links are being pulled offline by the notices. Anti-piracy outfits MUSO and Blue Efficience, which are among the impersonated companies, confirm that not all requests in their name are legitimate.

Copyright holders have scored a landmark victory in Singapore with an unprecedented court order allowing any Web address linked to blocked piracy websites to be blocked too. Last Thursday, the High Court issued the order for "dynamic site blocking" in favour of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
