La sixième édition des Empreintes Numériques visite un des fondamentaux de la culture numérique : le cyborg, figure de la frontière entre le vivant et la technique, chair digitale, zone oxymore allant de l’organique au numérique, de l’écran à la peau, du pixel au pigment.
Dans ce monde deux horizons se profilent : d’une part la séduction utopique des transhumanistes, porte voix des lobbys industriels qui promettent de faire de nous des êtres plus robustes, plus intelligents, plus beaux, voire immortels, d’autre part le champ des possibles ouvert par Donna Haraway dans son « Cyborg manifesto » . Ce cyborg là devient sujet critique, par l’appropriation de nouvelles aptitudes corporelles, mentales ou sociales, ignorées jusque là, dans une optique de libération individuelle et collective. ...

Proposals related to activating underutilized spaces in downtown San Jose’s SoFA District can be submitted by any artist through ArtHERE, a community website and open call platform that matches art proposals with empty spaces. The ZERO1 Emerging Artist Network is a series of calls for California-based emerging artists for projects to be featured in the weekend-long outdoor exhibition during the opening weekend of the ZERO1 Biennial. Artists chosen to receive micro-grants will be invited to participate in a weekend of events dedicated to the development of this new program.

For the first time, the town of Kuldiga is hosting a light-and-art festival Nights of Lights. The Online Digital Arts Festival in its eighth edition renews itself. Since 2005, were organized various exhibition activities with the aim to disseminate and reflect on new forms of contemporary digital art. Having been conceived as essentially a virtual project, with an immediate acceptance by the virtual community, it quickly became apparent that in Portugal, due to complete ignorance by the public of these new art forms, it was necessary to act on more classic event way. Physical exposures were promoted complementing the virtual exhibitions on the Internet, involved about 400 artists such as Annie Abrahams, Agricola de Cologne, Caterina Davinio and Jody Zellen.
