Festival Gamerz #09 (Bande Annonce 2013) - du 10 au 20 octobre 2013

Bizarre ?

IMPROVING REALITY 2013 - conference - Brighton Digital Festival 2013 | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Lighthouse's digital culture conference, Improving Reality, is returning for a third year this September. Expect tours through worlds that artists are growing rather than making, critical revelations of the systems and infrastructures that shape our world, and narratives of radical alternative futures.

An inspiring day of talks that explores how artists and designers are shifting our perceptions of the world. This year, major thinkers such as Keller Easterling, artist and synthetic biologist, Daisy Ginsberg, and gonzo futurist, Justin Pickard, are amongst our speakers.

We are excited to reveal that our media partner for Improving Reality 2013 is Arc. Arc was created by the makers of the New Scientist, and has emerged as one of the most exciting forums for writing about the near-future, science and science fiction. Arc will be sending a group of correspondents to the conference to capture the discussions. Their editor, Simon Ings will also be contributing as a moderator. ...

Brighton Digital Festival 2013 - 100 events celebrating digital creativity and innovation - 01 >> 30 sept. | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Brighton Digital Festival 2013 has over 100 events celebrating digital creativity and innovation. What will you be attending this September?

Brighton Digital Festival is a grassroots festival and the majority of events are organised by members of Brighton’s digital and arts communities.

This network of independent organisers offers a huge and diverse programme that reflects the richness and variety of what goes on across the City. It also enables a festival at a scale that would be otherwise impossible.

The festival is coordinated by Wired Sussex, who support the network of organisers, provide a single voice for the festival, and look after the joined up communications and PR to help spread the word to audiences and participants.

This coordination takes place in association with Lighthouse, who produce a programme of exceptional art and education activities throughout the festival month.

A volunteer steering group made up of representatives from the wider BDF community guides the festival’s broader, longer-term direction and development. ...

Call for Share Prize 2013 - Piemonte Share - deadline : 20.08.2013 | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Piemonte Share is announcing a new edition of the Share Prize, the international competition designed to discover, promote and support art in the digital age.

Entries for the Share Prize can be submitted from 20h June to 20th August 2013, by completing the entry form on the website www.toshare.it. The Share Prize this year will focus on the theme for the 9th Share Festival, entitled Real Time | Real Space.

This year, Share Festival will be shining the spotlight on how communications have become simultaneous and geolocalized in contemporary cities, sharpening its focus and critique onto the integration of digital networks in the urban environment.

Artists are not just aesthetic messengers but social agents, who use networks to change the way we think about media and relational space. The artistic practices they pioneer create critical prisms through which to view urban space. The artistic realm is overlapped with the physical, urban world to explore a new dimension in which art can redirect the social and political leanings of networks, communities and artists into performances.

The BEOPEN Sound Portal - ambisonic space

What happened in the BEOPEN sound portal? ...and at the Symposium?

Sound art and noisy hand dryers get equal hearing at BE OPEN's Sounding Space Symposium at Chelsea College of Art

6-7 June saw a host of sound aficionados gathering at Chelsea College of Art's Sounding Space symposium for discussions centred around the BE OPEN Sound Portal. This event was both a showcase for work produced by UAL students, who have been using the Portal to develop sound art, and marked the culmination of BE OPEN's year-long exploration into sensory design.

The Portal is a state-of-the-art, ambisonic space, devised by BE OPEN, Arup and the London Design Festival. UAL students have had an opportunity to explore it in three quite different ways, with the results of their work being played in the Portal during the Symposium. Pieces ranged from fictional conversation, to the sounds of microphones being dragged along the floor, to rhythmic drumming and singing....

BE OPEN is a cultural and social initiative that aims to harness the brainpower of creative leaders through a system of conferences, competitions, exhibitions, master classes and art events.

Behind the creation of BE OPEN stands an international team united around Russian businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Elena Baturina. A long-term, international, multidisciplinary, multi-faceted project, BE OPEN will allow leading contemporary thinkers and creatives to meet up with those in the media and business, discuss their ideas and visions and ultimately make change happen.

Our commitment is to become a bridge between the great minds of our time – philosophers, sociologists, designers, architects, artists, publishers, writers, businessmen and opinion leaders— and the promising new minds of the next generation.
