Is TV advertising dead in Denver? | Metro Denver Blog

Is TV advertising dead in Denver? | Metro Denver Blog | Metro Denver Blog | Scoop.it

Some Denver newscasts suffered double-digit declines in viewership for November 2017 sweeps.  The chief reason for the decline is obvious: Digital devices continue to draw attention away from television as younger audiences desert the medium in droves.

The Scoop's insight:

Cord cutters are winning. In 2013 cord cutting was an obscure term.  Back then advertisers and TV industry people were saying that cord cutting was a slow moving trend.    Flash forward to 2017.

TV will never die.   I have been keeping an eye on ROI for local Denver ad buying and TV is definitely has one of the worst returns.  2016 started the fall, 2017 seems like the tipping point.  Digital disruption is cemented now and the local Denver news channels are feeling the pinch.  Too many multi-screen options are part of the reason.  What are the others?

Ink Coffee Controversy | Metro Denver Blog

Ink Coffee Controversy | Metro Denver Blog | Metro Denver Blog | Scoop.it
Within hours of the sign's discovery, Ink! Coffee began to issue explanations that in some ways only made things worse.
The Scoop's insight:

Ouch.  Ink Coffee stumbled in a big way with a sandwich board sign outside their Five Points store.  On November 22nd it went viral.  No there are protests for the store to apologize or close.  Clearly the ad agency and Ink had a blind spot for this marketing campaign.  It's too bad the vandalism happened to the store.  Hopefully the neighborhood can put this behind them.  Like Rodney King said, "Can't we all just get along?"

See remarkable works created by women in Paris from 1850 to 1900, a time of great social, cultural, and artistic change.
The Scoop's insight:

Impressionist paintings in Denver

We went to see the "Her Paris" art exhibit this week here in Denver.  Truly mesmerizing paintings from women artists from the 19th Century.  We always hear of the male impressionist painters, but rarely the women. There are over 80 paintings from different female artists on display during the exhibit that runs from now until Jan 14, 2018.  Go if you can.  It is a treat to the eyes and soul.

Denver's Official Food, Breakfast Burritos from Santiagos

Denver's Official Food, Breakfast Burritos from Santiagos | Metro Denver Blog | Scoop.it
Santiago's, founded by Carmen Morales in 1990, is helping usher in the official Breakfast Burrito day as proclaimed by Mayor Michael Hancock
The Scoop's insight:

It's about time.  I have been raving about Santiago's since the first time I tried them up in Brighton.  When they came to Englewood my prayers were answered.  Obviously food is subjective but growing up with home made green chile, Santiago's is hard to beat for the cost.  People complain and say there is better green chile in Denver.  Not for $2 a breakfast burrito.  When people get mild or half and half, I can see that.  But hot at Santiagos is still the measuring stick for me.  Best value and home of the breakfast burrito.  I am down with it!

Voted one of the Best Restaurants in Denver, Café Marmotte is under new ownership | Metro Denver Blog | Metro Denver Blog | Scoop.it

Maria Katsaros explains that this is her first restaurant as an owner, but she’s been in the industry since she was a teenager, and had worked at Charlie Brown’s Bar & Grill for the past twelve years. That connection is what helped her and her brother take over the space, since the owner of Charlie Brown’s, George Andrianakos, is also the landlord of the building that houses Cafe Marmotte.

The Scoop's insight:

We loved the chill vibe at Cafe Marmotte so we had to share this article.

Does DIA have the best wifi on the planet?

Does DIA have the best wifi on the planet? | Metro Denver Blog | Scoop.it

The Financial, a publication out of Tbilisi, Georgia, credit the airport for its fast, free service.

The Scoop's insight:

When DIA first won the honor in January, DIA senior vice president for technologies Robert Kastelitz said the airport had spent about $2.5 million to upgrade all the wireless access points since 2015. It had also hired CenturyLink to supply two redundant 10 gigabit links for the whole airport, and it uses the latest Wi-Fi technology, 802.11ac, to get more compatible devices connected at faster rates.

Denver International Airport  may have good wifi, but they need to start working on rehabilitating the runways and infrastructure too.
