Last night, I spoke at the San Francisco Online Community meetup about what I learned from starting an ambassador program at Scoop.it before I really knew what exactly I was doing. Though it didn't quite work out as I expected, I learned a lot, and have now launched a new community strategy that includes 4 tiers of community with different levels of activity and involvement. I learned that you can't build community around just a brand, and that you can't force people to be a part of a community that they don't want to participate in. I also learned the importance of a community content strategy. If you aren't consistently engaging community members with meaningful content, chances are they aren't going to come back. **Stay tuned for video!** |
