Die Artikel reichen von Biographien berühmter Eisenbahnkonstrukteure bis zu umfangreichen Technikbeschreibungen und informieren sogar über scheinbar abwegige Themen wie die Bahnwärterwaschlokale.
Einen besonderen Reiz machen die zahlreichen Abbildungen, Illustrationen und Zeichnungen aus. So finden sich Baupläne von Brückenanlagen und Rangierbahnhöfen neben technischen Darstellungen von Achsen und Lokomotiven. Zugleich gibt es für fast jedes Land der Erde Karten der Eisenbahnnetze."

Esta edición abreviada se basa en el “Tesauro ISOC de topónimos” publicado por primera vez en 1993. Aquella primera edición y las dos posteriores (1996 y 2003) contenían más de 26.000 términos, debido al gran peso que alcanzaban los países de América Latina al encontrarse totalmente desarrolladas sus estructuras administrativas. Transcurrido el tiempo, se vio conveniente publicar una nueva edición abreviada donde los topónimos de los países latinoamericanos tuvieran una presencia equiparable a la de los de la Unión Europea. Esta edición abreviada del “Tesauro ISOC de topónimos” contiene 14.382 términos, de los cuales 12.288 son principales y 2.094 equivalentes. Se encuentran representados 196 países con el siguiente nivel de desarrollo: 1.- España, con comunidades autónomas, provincias y municipios. 2.- Países de la Unión Europea (antes de la ampliación del 2004) hasta dos niveles administrativos de su organización territorial, salvo Dinamarca, Finlandia, Países Bajos y Suecia de los que tan sólo se ha considerado un nivel; en todos los países se han incluido las ciudades mayores de 100.000 habitantes. 3.- Países de América Latina, donde se ha desarrollado el primer nivel administrativo y se han considerado las ciudades mayores de 100.000 habitantes. 4.- Países del resto de Europa, con sus capitales y ciudades mayores de 100.000 habitantes (excepto Rusia donde sólo aparecen las ciudades de más de 500.000 habitantes). 5.- Estados Unidos, con sus estados, las capitales de los estados y las ciudades mayores de 1.000.000 de habitantes. 6.- Resto del mundo, con sus capitales y ciudades mayores de 1.000.000 de ..."

Esta voz es relativamente moderna; Academia la recoge a partir de la edición de 1927. La define de este modo:
"SICALIPSIS. f. Pornografía."
También incluye los adjetivos sicalíptico y sicalíptica,  que define como "lascivo, deshonesto, pornográfico."
Mantienen la redacción de ambas acepciones en la edición de 1950, pero la suavizan en la de 1984:
"SICALIPSIS. (...) f. Malicia sexual, picardía erótica."
"SICALÍPTICO, CA.- adj. Perteneciente o relativo a la  sicalipsis."
Estas definiciones se mantienen en la 23ª edición del DRAE, última consultada.

“An aircraft [or aircraft-system] that is flown from a remote location without a pilot located in the aircraft itself.”
