The new policy comes in the wake of child rape charges this spring involving a Bridgewater State student who had once observed a class at Mitchell Elementary School.
“
At no time will student teachers from Bridgewater State University or any other college be left alone with our students,” Swenson said Wednesday.
BSU student Kyle Loughlin, 22, of Wrentham was arrested in March on charges of raping two boys at the university’s day care center. Loughlin was never a student teacher in B-R schools but had observed a class at Mitchell Elementary School in Bridgewater in November 2013, Superintendent Jacqueline Forbes said.
