We’re nearing the end of our First Alert Weather Day due to snow, dropping temperatures, and slick travel concerns. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect until 7 p.m. tonight as snow continues across northern New York and will taper to snow showers this evening. Sharp temperature drops are expected tonight with wind chills plummeting to -5°. Difficult travel is likely through this evening commute as roads remain slick. We’re seeing many traffic accidents and slide-offs this evening. Our next chance for precipitation arrives Friday night into Saturday with a gradual warmup expected Saturday afternoon. An unseasonably cold and unsettled pattern will continue through mid-week with multiple chances for light snow, but a dangerously cold period Monday into Wednesday will bring wind chills into the negative teens.

The cold and snowy pattern will continue across the Great Lakes and Northeast through the weekend and into next week. Another reinforcing shot of cold air will bring the next round of snow to the region Friday into Saturday. A coastal storm is forecast to get close enough to potentially bring the I-95 corridor and immediate coastline a little bit of snow on Sunday. The highest snow totals will likely be across northern Wisconsin, western Michigan along with the Upper Peninsula where more than a foot of snow could fall. Watch this video to see how much snow is in your forecast.
