Giving your WordPress.com website its own custom domain has long been a powerful way to make your site stand out — a personalized web address helps you tell the world who you are and what you offer. If you registered your domain on WordPress.com, you already had the power to build a website and manage a domain all in one place. But what if you didn’t? The one missing piece was the ability to transfer existing domains you’d already registered elsewhere.
Today, we’re happy to announce that domain transfers from other providers are welcome at WordPress.com. If you’re already itching to move your domain, our support page will guide you through the process.
If you’re not ready to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, no worries. You can still leave your domain registered at your current registrar and map it here instead. Not sure which option is better for you? Learn more / En savoir plus / Mehr erfahren: https://www.scoop.it/t/wordpress-annotum-for-education-science-journal-publishing

The latest WordPress version (4.2, released on Thursday) and several earlier ones are vulnerable to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that can be exploited to inject JavaScript in WordPress comments.
"If [the script is] triggered by a logged-in administrator, under default settings the attacker can leverage the vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the server via the plugin and theme editors," researcher Jouko Pynnönen of Finnish security company Klikki Oy explained in a security advisory published on Sunday.

Sucuri Security researchers are warning about a massive compromise of WordPress sites sporting malicious JavaScript leading visitors to malware.
The discovery was made on Sunday, when Google blacklisted over compromised 11,000 domains. After poking around a bit, the researchers discovered that most of the affected hosts are running WordPress.
Sucuri researchers are urging site administrators to check whether their sites have been compromised with this or other malware via their free website malware and security scanner.

Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development framework for managing product development. It defines "a flexible, holistic product development strategy where a development team works as a unit to reach a common goal", challenges assumptions of the "traditional, sequential approach" to product development, and enables teams to self-organize by encouraging physical co-location or close online collaboration of all team members, as well as daily face-to-face communication among all team members and disciplines involved.
Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development framework for managing product development.[1][2] It defines "a flexible, holistic product development strategy where a development team works as a unit to reach a common goal",[3] challenges assumptions of the "traditional, sequential approach"[3] to product development, and enables teams to self-organize by encouraging physical co-location or close online collaboration of all team members, as well as daily face-to-face communication among all team members and disciplines involved.
A key principle of Scrum is its recognition that during product development, the customers can change their minds about what they want and need (often called requirements volatility[4]), and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily addressed in a traditional predictive or planned manner. As such, Scrum adopts an evidence-based empirical approach—accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the team's ability to deliver quickly, to respond to emerging requirements and to adapt to evolving technologies and changes in market conditions. WordPress 4.2.1 is now available. This is a critical security release for all previous versions and we strongly encourage you to update your sites immediately. A few hours ago, the WordPress team was made aware of a cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable commenters to compromise a site. The vulnerability was discovered by Jouko Pynnönen. WordPress 4.2.1 has begun to roll out as an automatic background update, for sites that support those. For more information, see the release notes or consult the list of changes.
Download WordPress 4.2.1 or venture over to Dashboard → Updates and simply click “Update Now”.

Legitimate sites forced to aid criminals' illicit botnet operations
Hackers have hijacked more than 162,000 legitimate WordPress sites, connecting them to a criminal botnet and forcing them to mount distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, according to security firm Sucuri.
Sucuri CTO Daniel Cid said the company uncovered the botnet when analysing an attack targeting one of its customers. Cid said Sucuri managed to trace the source of the attack to legitimate WordPress sites. "The most interesting part is that all the requests were coming from valid and legitimate WordPress sites. Yes, other WordPress sites were sending random requests at a very large scale and bringing the site down," read the blog.
