InternetSafety for Kids & Families

InternetSafety for Kids & Families | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

In an age when everyone can author or share information to a mass audience almost instantly, it is more critical than ever to develop and sharpen our ability to discern the credible from the implausible things we see online.

There are many purveyors of false or biased information on the Internet – a company seductively advertising the effectiveness of its weight loss product, a politically-motivated organization hoping to persuade you to vote for their cause, a hacker attempting to fool you into clicking on something that infects your computer with malicious software.

Thankfully, among the mounds of information we find online, there is also the credible and the safe. It’s a good habit to have and teach others how to figure out which is which. I believe the skill to do this is made up of 2 basic things: information literacy and information security.

Learning basics of Cyber-Security

Learning basics of Cyber-Security | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

[Beginning Text from www.informationweek.com]

Cybercriminals are looking for low-hanging fruit. Their targets are companies with poor defenses, a lack of security skills, and vulnerable end users. They’re looking for unlocked doors and open windows. The path of least resistance will always be the one most beaten down by bad guys.

There are many other reasons a cybercriminal might target your company and your employees, but the message is the same: ===> No business, no individual is immune. <=== Whether you are Sony or a mom-and-pop shop, you may be a target today. How you respond to that threat could make the difference between being safe and being breached. [End Text from www.informationweek.com]

In clear text this means that any private computer could be a target!

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month Advocates Good “Cyber Hygiene”

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month Advocates Good “Cyber Hygiene” | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
CIO.gov is the website for the United States Chief Information Officers Council...

Surfing the web. Social networking. Shopping. Even the most innocuous online activities can pose a threat to our nation’s cybersecurity, and all Americans should play a part in protecting it.

That’s the message behind the seventh annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October. Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Cybersecurity Awareness Month encourages the practice of good “cyber hygiene”: taking simple precautions to reduce the cyber risks to our national and economic security. “Our nation is more reliant on computer networks than ever—networks that connect individuals, government, and the private sector. And therefore our nation’s cybersecurity is increasingly dependent upon our citizens’ cyber awareness,” said John Denning, Director of External Affairs at DHS’ Office of Cybersecurity and Communications.

The ART Of Collaboration (Collaborative Behaviours)

The ART Of Collaboration (Collaborative Behaviours) | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
If people are given the right tools and the right environment, will they spontaneously collaborate and share knowledge? Why do some people find it difficult to share and collaborate? Would incentives and rewards make a difference?

Collaboration in the workplace is now high on the priority list of many organisations seeking to leverage social technologies to free-up knowledge and provide opportunities for co-creation, co-production and innovation.

Gust MEES: I was one of the TOP10 Knol authors (Google Knol discontinued its service as on May 1, 2012) and I was involved in a lot of collaborative articles with multicultural authors and it was a very positive experience... I hope one day having the same opportunity back again on WordPress now...

TIC's utilisés au Luxembourg (Europe) [pdf]

Gust MEES's insight:

http://www.myschool.lu/home/mS/publications_fiches.asp

et j'aimerais de voir aussi la pratique intégrée

https://gustmees.wordpress.com/2012/11/29/cyber-hygiene-ict-hygiene-for-population-education-and-business/
