This was certainly an eye opener that many of the skills I am learning as a pre-service teacher in the areas of ITC and pedagogy relate directly to skills that are desired in the workforce. This strengthens my resolve to be able to teach students using these pedagogies to ensure that they are successful in their lives post schooling.

In our time of fast-paced, exam-pressured, high-tech culture, where does learning with nature have a place? Our clever screen world keeps us busy and on the go, but does not help us to communicate, feel loved, gain the satisfaction of the quiet mind, and relax. Time with others in nature does exactly that -- and much, much more! Learn more: Using blogs to document the beauty of nature: - https://gustmeeshobbyen.wordpress.com/

WordPress 4.2.1 is now available. This is a critical security release for all previous versions and we strongly encourage you to update your sites immediately. A few hours ago, the WordPress team was made aware of a cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable commenters to compromise a site. The vulnerability was discovered by Jouko Pynnönen. WordPress 4.2.1 has begun to roll out as an automatic background update, for sites that support those. For more information, see the release notes or consult the list of changes. Download WordPress 4.2.1 or venture over to Dashboard → Updates and simply click “Update Now”.

I believe in the potential power of blogging. I believe it can be harnessed to be a powerful pedagogical tool in the 21st Century.
4 Benefits of Integrating Blogging into Pedagogy 1. Blogs promote participation and collaboration of knowledge and skills. There are a myriad of resources available on the internet that can help students become creators, and not merely consumers of different texts and bodies of knowledge.
2. Blogs promote global communication and collaboration. Teachers can facilitate interactions with diverse cultures, ethnicities, and religions, and social contexts. Students can be helped to challenging their thinking by considering other viewpoints.
3. Blogs promote the critical analysis of pedagogy and literacies.
4. Blogs create the potential for interactive spaces for authentic exchanges. Strategies including reading logs, book reviews, parental communication, encouraging reading and writing and responding around a particular theme or focus. If we can harness this power, we have a strong pedagogical tool on our hands. As with other areas in education, we can begin to harness this power by asking ourselves the right kinds of questions that can bring about the results we want to see.

This article lists some great pieces of advice for anyone blogging out there.
There once was a time where everything you needed to know for your career was taught to you by the educational institution you attended and the company you worked for. You would go get your four year bachelor’s degree in whatever topic and that information would stay with you for a little while, then you would periodically take some additional classes offered through your company. Today by the time you graduate with a four year college degree most of the information you will learn will be outdated and perhaps obsolete. The world has changed and it’s up to us as individuals (and as companies) to make sure that we can change too. Organizations must enable employees by deploying the right technologies to connect people and by supporting employees and allowing them learn outside of the company. Individuals must get rid of all excuses and understand that they can learn anything they want anytime they want to learn it. Ideas that spread, win. ~Seth Godin A few years ago, blogging and social media were separate. Blogging was long-form, serious, and crafted. Social media was short-form, personal, and spontaneous. Some people predicted that social media would replace blogging because of declining attention spans. Now blogging and social media not only amicably coexist; they complement each other. The trick is to use a blog to enrich your social media with long-form posts and to use social media to promote your blog.I recently did a live webinar event with Marketo about The Art of Social Media, and we’d like to share the takeaways from the presentation and a few of the follow-up questions that we answered....
