Blockchain has an environmental cost


At least, the way it is being used today, it does. Blockchain relies on encryption to provide its security as well as establish consensus over a distributed network. This essentially means that, in order to “prove” that a user has permission to write to the chain, complex algorithms must be run, which in turn require large amounts of computing power. Of course, this comes at a cost. Taking the most widely known and used blockchain as an example – Bitcoin – last year it was claimed that the computing power required to keep the network running consumes as much energy as was used by 159 of the world’s nations.

Yes, Bitcoin’s blockchain is a hugely valuable network – with a current market capacity at the time of writing of over $170 billion – so sophisticated and computationally intense security is essential. Smaller scale blockchains – such as those that an organization may deploy internally to securely monitor and record business activity – would consume a fraction of that. Nevertheless, it’s an important consideration and the environmental implications as well as the energy costs can’t be ignored.

Recently a news came in from Intelligence how to keep disturbance running in a region without changing much of the recruits as first influx of migrants in area. Here as a respected citizen of your State you must remember that when I used the word migrant it was in context of suspicious activist that play the role of catalyst in local politics. You see it is given you are law abiding citizen. I live at a respectable place and remained obedient all my life. Now my legacy of writing this short note at your initiative is infact not a profession but my personal wealth that I earned of being obedient. Of course what you are stating is extremely prerogative to choices I made based on my believes. Here their are no intention but commenting at your regional erupting menace is my day to day work. You see this is your problem, apologies for being rude but my dilema would be is this a planted news. This happens from both sides Law Enforcement and Outlaws. Like you must be having a beautiful family, I also have my elders to whom I am answerable although they wouldn't ask any questions to me. You must have to understand, my support to your well being is extensively under surveillance. Those forces are telling you that they are doing this for your good where as I am concerned, till I spoke to you I am ghost. You see even if I am speaking to you I still am not properly recognisable. Listen, what came to your mind when you shared this problem of yours with netizens. I am taking it as a brewing mishappening that could happen with you, my dear friend or any of your loving neighbours. You see If I simply say that something similar is happening here also you will ask for conclusive arrangements that could be made. I tell you that who so ever is in reach is caught. So since I can, could or had, just reached you so did I caught you. Then the big question is on whose side I am from. First of all my assumption is that you are seriously speaking it as a probable cause of discomfort that can transform into a vast area matter of grievious anarchy. After that I share one more news with you. Some times back I was reading about some City Management Officials record from USA. See what I found out. One of the residence living in a small town or city in USA spoke about terrorism and terrorist. I immediately brought it into limelight in one of my blog on 'X' formerly Twitter. This is what she said, "Increase in number of Terrorists in our are that are causing discomfort mainly to the elderly couples and also are loss to civil corporation". Here she is saying about those people who create ruckus in the society as real terrorist. With all developed mind I could laugh at her that what is she saying. But to built consensus with that pure soul, I have to admit that is how terrorist build their nest. The voluntarily or involuntarily select a colony, infiltrate it and start creating disturbance. But dear friend be extremely alert as their are no thin lines but only buffer zone where their could be anything. Swords and Spears in Fog and Mist. Now let us come to your homestead, Luxembourg. As I am an educated person I had heard of this Nation during my classroom attendance but officially I got message from Luxembourg two times. First in 2005 and second in 2011. It was like they have used an official channel to reach out at me. It may amuse you but the boy who talked about Luxembourg with me at generic level in 2005, I saw him at traffic lights some two months ago. Also the person who discussed Luxembourg in 2011 sends me questions related to Economics often. I don't have much attachment with Luxembourg as it could very much be present with France or Bulgaria. But if this message to reply of your query hits the chord it is obviously my statement that in past two times someone tried to reach out at me from your country. Now, as an Indian we have very precise theory about European Nations, that is you are small countries where every thing is at stone throw distance. See, you shared an extremely local news on world wide web. I accept plethora of problems this small package is carrying with it. While understanding what I really parcelled you you also have to be alert along thoughtful of your perspective and my feelings about how dire this questionable attribute present at your sight could be.
