You’re Being Watched Online [Infographic] | Web 2.0 for juandoming | Scoop.it
Yes, everything you do online is being tracked. Your searches, the videos you watch, transactions, social events, even crime. Scandalous crimes. With a little help, especially with our guides, you're still able to remain anonymous on the Internet. But understanding how you're being tracked is an important lesson, as are the little things you can…

The Deal with Infographics

The Deal with Infographics | Web 2.0 for juandoming | Scoop.it
I must admit that I find the field of infographics fascinating.  In my Zite reader, I'm excited when one of them makes any of the categories that I follow and, to be sure that I get a daily fix, I ...

Here’s one of the infographics that I spent time looking at this morning.  It’s titled “The pros and cons of social media in education” and was blogged by the Edtech Times who credit the authorship to OnlineUniversities.com.

Competencias Digitales

Pamela D Lloyd's curator insight, February 3, 2013 4:04 PM

From very early in my life, possibly in my elementary school years, but certainly by the time I was in high school, I've felt that the age-based grouping of children for education was ineffective, holding some students back, while forcing others ahead before they were ready. Even without digital learning techniques, I believe that students, all students, benefit from a system that takes each individual's learning styles and needs into account, recognizing mastery (or competency, as it's referred to in this infographic) as the basis for placement in each subject. The advent of digital learning systems provides the means for making such a process easier and more cost-effective than ever before, and I hope that our schools, regardless of whether they are brick & mortar or via the Internet, will continue to explore ways to help every child learn in the way that works best for them.

Antonia Rudenstine's curator insight, July 27, 2015 4:57 PM

I don't think about competency in exactly this way...but this conversation is a fabulous one to be in.

G+ is catching up big time for many reasons.  Among these reasons is the Hangout integration.

We just facilitated a remote 1.5 day leadership development session with Hangouts and it was fantastic.

Google is sticking to their strategy and their value is starting to win people over.  I was never a fan and, through valuable features, I am changing my perspective on the suite of offerings.

This is a relevant infographic.

PRIVACY AND ICT The whys and wherefores of privacy

Privacy is a sensitive subject to which people attach great importance. The only problem is that they do not know exactly why. Still, if it is so important then it is also necessary to establish why that is the case. It is therefore the task of ethicists to clarify the relevant theoretical arguments and practical implications.

Any topics that touch on privacy, such as the electronic files on patients (efp) and cameras in public spaces therefore soon become topics of heated social and political debate. People appreciate the advantages of new information technology but are at the same time alarmed to realize that so much is known about them. It is often emotions that play a decisive role because the relevant arguments are difficult to formulate not to mention weigh up.

Study Reveals that Twitter users often Retweet without reading or clicking links

Study Reveals that Twitter users often Retweet without reading or clicking links | Web 2.0 for juandoming | Scoop.it
If you’ve been on Twitter long enough and use the social platform to share content from your blog or website, and have built a certain level of authority and expertise, after a while you’ll begin to notice automated sharing and retweets of your stuff, often from the same sources. This can be great for traffic and awareness, but it’s a pretty hollow stamp of approval, as your content has obviously been passed on blind.

Via Gust MEES, Paulo Tomás Neves, Francisco Velasquez
Steve Tuffill's comment, November 12, 2012 5:51 PM
And if the poster uses the command, "Retweet" rather than "RT", the retweet rate increases twelve-fold...! Remember, less than 100 chars means +17% engagement, too. More than 2 +hashtags reduces this again by 17%!
