Los Wearables están consiguiendo más avances, pero puede la tecnología medir hoy nuestra salud?

Every year, scores of Americans make New Year’s resolutions to lose weight and get fit. And to ensure this year is really the year, many rely on technology for a boost. They sign up for gym memberships and boast about their workouts on social media. They purchase and proudly display the hottest health wearables like the FitBit, Fuelband, Jawbone, Misfit or Garmin.

 

Unfortunately, as the holidays fade away, so do many well-intentioned resolutions. By February, a third of all resolution-makers have given up on their goals. And although 10 percent of adults now own a fitness tracker, we can predict that over 30 percent of new wearers willabandon the device by the middle of the year.

Aún con alergia al término Wearables , prefiriendo “prendas inteligentes” y esperando que en la RAE tomen alguna decisión sobre cómo deberíamos nombrar a estos dispositivos que están ya en boca de todos, os presento ahora una infografía que nos envían desde healthia.es.

 

Han querido mostrar los Wearables de Salud más novedosos del 2014, tanto los que están aún en desarrollo como los que están en su primera fase de venta, productos que en muchas ocasiones han nacido del crowdfunding y que ya tienen fecha pública de lanzamiento.

 

Estos dispositivos ayudarán a monitorizar la progresión de los pacientes y mejorar los diagnósticos, por lo que la comunidad de profesionales de la salud está bien atenta a la evolución de los mismos. El objetivo final es que los Wearables se sincronicen con plataformas médicas ya existentes, permitiendo de esa forma ayudar de forma directa tanto durante la consulta médica como durante el periodo de observación en casa.

So far the internet of things hasn’t made much headway into patient care in the medical setting, but consumers are buying wellness devices for a variety of reasons. Will the medical world embrace that data?

 

The intersection of healthcare and connected devices was thrown into high relief these last few weeks as both Apple and Samsung unveiled ecosystems to take consumer health data and turn it into actionable intelligence.

 

But this week’s guests at the Weekly podacst at GigaOm are confident that as advanced as consumer-grade consumer grade health devices get, they won’t become something doctors are hot on for years to come — if ever.
