Interactive map shows spatial distribution of rainfall over Australia. This interactive map could enhance and transform learning by enabling the students to have a visual representation of the rainfall over Australia.

The video ‘Water Down Under’ is my chosen artefact for my digital learning sequence, I chose this artefact as it is engaging, informative and related to the students learning task. Geography can be a challenging subject to teach, students need to be engaged and the information needs to be relevant to their interest. The opening theme of this video relates to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dream time stories. Dream time stories are an extremely valuable information source to many Australians. The video unites the visual and auditory body system which in turn has been proven to enhance learning. The video shows moving picture maps and spatial distribution of the area that the Artesian Basin covers and practical demonstrations of how it works. This enables the students to visually understand concepts and ideas, thus supporting kinaesthetic learners. The narrative is also easy to listen to supporting student engagement. The video engages students by linking historic and current authentic experiences. When watching this video, I could see a direct link with the Australian curriculum and how I would incorporate it. Ideally, I would present this video to the students and as a group and we would discuss how this water resource is connected to hundreds of people throughout Australia. The documentary would provide information that would facilitate students to think more inquisitively and deeper explore their understanding of how this resource connects to people and places impacting the environment, social and economic use over a vast area of Australia.
