Por José Requejo y Susana Herrera (Profesores de Periodismo en la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Este análisis fue presentado en el III Congreso Internacional de Ciberperiodismo y Web 2.0, que organizó la Universidad del País Vasco) En menos de cinco años, Twitter se ha convertido en uno de los medios sociales más versátiles y populares. Sin embargo, de acuerdo con investigaciones recientes, los medios tradicionales continúan utilizando este servicio de un modo preferente para difundir información y promocionar sus contenidos. Apenas crean comunidad y tampoco enlazan a contenido externo con el que enriquecer su propia contribución. Con el propósito de inspirar a más organizaciones de noticias para que sigan fortaleciendo los lazos con sus seguidores, el texto presenta nueve buenas prácticas a las que ya están recurriendo varios medios españoles en su afán por crear comunidad. Para ello: 1) Emplean una voz humana 2) Interrogan a sus seguidores por sus gustos y opiniones 3) Les solicitan información 4) Les piden que formulen preguntas a un invitado 5) Les responden, lo cual permite certificar que les escuchan 6) Les ofrecen información útil y oportuna 7) Retuitean sus aportaciones de valor y les mencionan, sin complejos 8 ) Realizan encuestas entre ellos, y 9) Enlazan a su perfil en otras redes para seguir construyendo comunidad.
