New report reveals the devastating discrimination young Muslims in the UK face

New report reveals the devastating discrimination young Muslims in the UK face | In the news: data in the UK Data Service collection across the web | Scoop.it
Young Muslims in the UK are less likely to succeed in the workplace with many reporting experience of Islamophobia, discrimination and racism, a new report suggests. Research by the Social Mobility Commission found young Muslims are being held back from reaching their full potential at every stage of their lives, from school to university and at work. Previous analysis by the advisory body found that young people from Pakistani and Bangladeshi backgrounds are more likely than ever to succeed in education and go on to university than other groups - particularly girls.

The UK economy is 'broken' says major new report | In the news: data in the UK Data Service collection across the web | Scoop.it
Britain’s economic model is “broken” and failing to generate rising prosperity for most of the UK population, according to a major new report. The IPPR’s Commission on Economic Justice argues in its interim publication that the UK economy requires a structural overhaul on the scale of the founding of the welfare state by Labour in the 1940s and the Thatcher rollback of the state in the 1980s.

Britain's human landscape: An atlas of the UK’s population

Britain's human landscape: An atlas of the UK’s population | In the news: data in the UK Data Service collection across the web | Scoop.it
When Danny Dorling was a child he enjoyed watching people navigating the dark, damp underpass that linked the homes and workplaces either side of a big road outside Oxford. Some were bound for university jobs, others to the car factory, and they came from homes of varying value; their routes between the subway's four exits varied accordingly.
