La création de rizières écoles est une composante importante du projet Graines de Changement. Pour initier ce volet, Naturevolution s’est associée à l’association Tefy Saina pour effectuer une étude de faisabilité dans l’objectif d’étudier la possibilité de mettre en place un Système de Riziculture Intensive (SRI) dans les villages du pourtour du Makay. Cette initiative vise avant tout à sensibiliser et convaincre le plus d’agriculteurs possible de l’intérêt de ces nouvelles pratiques. Il est notamment question d’illustrer le gain en rendement afin que l’ensemble des rizières du village puissent être cultivées avec cette technique.

The development of a new rice cultivation technique is an important component of the Seeds of Change project. In order to initiate this component, Naturevolution joined forces with Tefy Saina, a Malagasy association created in 1990 by Laulanié's father to promote the System of Rice Intensification (SRI).

Le commune rurale de Miarinavaratra est en passe de devenir un pôle de développment dans la région Amoron’i Mania grâce aux actions menées par les ministère de l’Emploi, de l’enseignement technique et de la formation professionnelle (MEETFP). La circonscription a inaugure l’application de la Politique nationale de l’emploi et de la formation professionnelle (PNEFP) en dispensant une formation à 200 agricultrices issues de 20 associations féminines de la commune en système de riziculture intensive (SRI) et en élevage de volailles et lapins.

La clôture officielle de la saison rizicole 2015-2016, s’est tenue le 21 juillet dernier, pour les quatre communes bénéficiaires du Programme Avotra, dans la région Itasy. Il s’agit d’un programme d’agriculture biologique et de SRI.
SRI-Rice's insight:

Programme Avotra, an SRI project funded by the French NGO CODEGAZ in the Itasy region of Madagascar, wrapped up the rice growing season on July 21. With an average production of 11t / ha, the four municipalities in this project rank among those with the most significant returns in the country. A farmer reported "We did well to practice the system of rice intensification, as it allowed us to triple our returns.”

According to the Malagasy Ministry of Agriculture, about 4 million tons of rice are expected to be harvested this year against 3.6 million tons in 2014. The system of rice intensification practiced in the district of Ambohidratrimo * in particular allowed to double crops.
