Do you fancy yourself as the next Murray Gold? Is music your passion? Would you like the opportunity to create a short piece of music for a clip from a Doctor Who episode and then have it showcased at the Doctor Who Proms 2013? If your answer is yes to any of those questions, then you may want to read on… The BBC has launched a competition where you can create a soundtrack to be played over a clip from the recent Doctor Who Christmas special, The Snowmen. If you’re a grown up, stop reading now, this doesn’t apply to you - but if you’re between the age of 11 and 16 and go to school (we hope you all do, if not then please go back to school now, it’s terribly important you know) then you’re eligible to enter your original piece.

“10 Best Pieces From Doctor Who Seasons 1-4”
Murray Gold is one of my favourite composers working today. But unlike someone like Hans Zimmer, whose work varies because of the various films they work on, for many years Murray Gold has been slaving away to one show: Doctor Who. Luckily for us, this doesn’t mean he has lacked in his creative range. Doctor Who has given him a chance to explore dozens of flavours of music, and since he joined the show in 2005 we’ve been graced with an indecent number of incredible soundtracks.
For those who either aren’t familiar with Murray Gold’s work on Doctor Who, or those who haven’t listened to it for a long time, I am going to list my 10 favourite pieces from Doctor Who Seasons 1-4. That includes the entire Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant eras, from 2005 to 2009. This is by no means an easy task, and I have had to exclude a ridiculous number of tracks which I wholeheartedly adore.
Nevertheless, here are the 10 pieces I believe to be the best from Doctor Who Seasons 1-4.

I got curious about this article because making music to any type of video, movie and animation is one of my career goals. The processes depend on each composer, but I did not know how music composer think when they make music to a drama. Murray Gold points mentioned several points that he cares about when he make music. He reads a script carefully, which not many music composers do not do, and he is careful about tempo of music. 128bpm is favorable because it is familiar tempo to everybody.
