This article is more informative rather than opinionated. It sources it's information with links that support the statements.

This is very alarming. Especially for any aspiring artist! The benefit of the internet age, is the accessibility it gives artist to create and connect with their fans. The downside, is the over saturation, and inability to make money from music sales. I'm honestly not real sure about the credibility of this website. It is a secured site, and most of the information given was backed with credible links and sources, but I've never heard of them before, and the domain is a .ly which is new to me. I also feel like the writer tried to be very humorous with regards to a serious topic.

Opinion: I believe some of the findings in this article are pretty crazy to see. With times changing, stats change, and one stat that was cited in this article is that nearly 38% of ALL music consumption is from stream streaming. Another stat that was insane to me, is that 1500 streams is equal to 1 sale. In prospective, someone would have to generate almost a million streams just to earn almost $1300. That to me, is just a shocking change that needs focus.
Evaluation: This article is reliable because the Author was in plain site, as well as the contact information. The findings that were referenced, were cited, and the article had a date that wasn’t too long ago. Major Source: I believe this to be a major source for audio industry professionals because there’s a huge impact on the industry that needs attention. |
