So, Jay-Z isn't writing the score to Baz Luhrman's The Great Gatsby after all. According to the studio, he will be contributing to and producing the soundtrack, which is sure to be amazing (I still have the soundtrack to Luhrman's Moulin Rouge in heavy rotation on my iTunes) but the score for the actual movie is going to be written byCraig Armstrong (no relation to Tour de France liar Lance).

While certainly not a disaster, Baz Lurhrmann's opulent adaptation begins to look and feel like something grand and profound, before transforming into a decidedly unthoughtful stagger through familiar territory.

Sounds like the HIGH POINT is Craig Armstrong's original score... " But it's what composer Craig Armstrong does with those tunes, turning them into orchestral riffs that haunt and envelop, that's really striking. When that music swells and the green light burns, the picture feels truly 3D, immersive and captivating. But unfortunately those moments are increasingly few and fleeting. "

It's no secret that there is ALOT of money to be made in movies. Which would explain why it would be a smart financial decision to extend your musical talents into mainstream video as well. Music is needed for every movie, and as an artist you should be looking for ways to exploit your craft. |
