AGRA’s integrated programs in seeds, soils, market access, policy and partnerships and innovative finance work to trigger comprehensive changes across the agricultural system. AGRA’s three main goals by 2020 are to: - Reduce food insecurity by 50 percent in at least 20 countries;

Meet the Partner: Cordaid Established in 2000 when several Dutch aid organizations joined forces, Cordaid is an internationally operating value-based emergency relief and development organisation, working in and on fragility. Cordaid stands with those who are hit hardest by poverty and conflict by supporting them in their struggle to move beyond survival and to fully participate in equitable and resilient societies. Cordaid does not accept this world of inequality and exclusion but believes in a world where everyone can live life in dignity is possible; where people can break through barriers of poverty and exclusion, and influence decisions that affect them; and, a world with an economy not driven by greed and growth, but by inclusivity, social justice, and gender equality. The organisation believes that all humans are a single family and the earth with all its resources is our common home. Cordaid focuses on fragility, operating in the fragile and volatile settings where communities and governments alike struggle to absorb and mitigate economic, political, and environmental shocks and risks. The organisation addresses these causes of fragility by supporting local communities, service providers, and frontline aid workers in creating food security, offering healthcare and education, assuring security and justice, and promoting gender equality. Cordaid fosters local ownership by collaborating as much as possible with local organisations, governments, and the private sector. Localising humanitarian assistance and development cooperation – by giving prominence and funding to local responders and professionals – increases the efficiency of interventions and counters power imbalances within the development sector. Cordaid links relief and development by offering humanitarian assistance where disasters strike by combining the longer-term improvement of health care systems, food security, economic opportunities and disaster resilience, and the promotion of security and justice with life-saving humanitarian assistance. Inspired by Christian social traditions, Cordaid is guided by the values of human dignity, justice, compassion, and care for the planet to reach out to the poor and the excluded, regardless of race and religion. The organisation seeks and promotes alliances of civil society organisations, as well as the public and the private sectors. With hundreds of funding and implementing partners, the organisation works across sectors and on different levels, with everything embedded in local communities. It works with local professionals and experts and uses innovative digital and financial methods to increase impact. Website
Meet the partner : Huairou Commission The Huairou Commission is a global coalition of women’s networks, INGOs, and grassroots women’s organizations that empowers grassroots women by developing strategic partnerships and linkages among grassroots women’s organizations, advancing their capacity to collectively influence political spaces on behalf of their communities and enhance their sustainable, resilient community development practices. The coalition supports grassroots women’s organizations with resources and tools to expand their leadership capacity, as well as platforms to share their voices, strategies, and successes with other grassroots women around the world. Several grassroots women’s organizations, members of the Huairou Commission, have tested the Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC) in its initial phase in Brazil (Espaco Feminista), Ghana (Grassroots Sisterhood Foundation) and Nepal (Lumanti). These tests focused on largescale land tools: municipal master plans, land reform commissions and land administration systems. The GEC is a flagship GLTN tool that addresses gender responsiveness in land tool development. In the case of Brazil, for instance, the application of the tool ensures inclusivity in their application where men, women and other stakeholders are actively involved in design, implementation and evaluation. A number of community leaders working on land and property rights, researchers, land professionals and representatives of the government’s land institutions have been trained in designing and evaluating land tools with a gender analysis to realize and to recognize inequity and/ or inclusion issues in land policies and land regulations, and to develop mitigation and affirmative action approaches where necessary. Meet the partner : Namati Namati was founded in 2011 with the objective of growing a robust, evidence-based, global field around community paralegals, legal empowerment, and primary justice services. Today, Namati is building a global movement of grassroots advocates who give people the power to understand, use, and shape the law. These advocates form a dynamic, creative frontline that can squeeze justice out of even broken systems. Namati’s Community Land Protection Program supports national and local organizations to proactively strengthen rural and indigenous communities’ ability to protect, document and steward their collectively managed lands. Namati, through its partners, is currently working to protect community lands in Liberia, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Nepal, and Myanmar. Namati’s approaches to working on land issues directly align with GLTN’s agenda and core values. The experiences, research, and training materials will be valuable contributions to the GLTN – in particular regarding communal land tenure systems and the application of legal empowerment strategies to land issues. Namati may also bridge the GLTN with the Global Legal Empowerment Network of over 650 organizations (https://namati.org/network/organizations/), many of whom work on land-related issues. For more information on Namati, visit https://namati.org
