Women ROCK Pinterest - 20% All Online Women Using Pinterest

Women ROCK Pinterest - 20% All Online Women Using Pinterest | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
One in five American women who use the Internet hop online to tend Pinterest boards. That figure comes from a recent phone survey of more than a thousand consumers conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. And it confirms much of the anecdotal evidence we often hear about how the visual web has changed the way we spend our time online.

Pinterest’s 19 percent adoption rate among women still has a long way to go to catch up to Facebook’s 70 percent statistic. However, the ease with which users can pin and repin their favorite objects gives Pinterest an edge among women who enjoy sharing and storing lists of their favorite things, rather than issuing status updates....

Pinterest growth will undoubtedly continue like wildfire until commercialization renders it less enjoyable.

Recently I noted that good thing I can't meet the women I follow in Pinterest since I would have been married again (at least once LOL). I made sure and point out I meant that sentence in a non-creepy way :).

This is NOT to say there aren't amazing men in Pinterest, but I doubt social pinning has achieved the same level of usage by men. Male usage will increase since Pinterest is cool, fun and beautiful AND you can learn valuable lessons about how you combine visual information and how THEY (women) do so.

Guess what. It is going to feel different, good but different :).

Seven of the Best Guides to Marketing with Pinterest of 2012 | B2B Marketing Blog | Webbiquity

Seven of the Best Guides to Marketing with Pinterest of 2012 | B2B Marketing Blog | Webbiquity | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Is Pinterest worthwhile for business marketing? Does it really help with SEO? And if Pinterest is worth the effort, what are the best practices for using it?

While consumer brand marketers are embracing Pinterest enthusiastically, many B2B marketers are still in a quandary about the visual sharing site. On one hand, it’s highly engaging, rapidly growing, and has more than 11 million users. On the other hand, 80% of users are women and the most popular topics continue to be fashion, cooking, home decor, crafts, weddings and kids.

So, is Pinterest worthwhile for business marketing? Does it really help with SEO? And if Pinterest is worth the effort of getting to know the ins and outs of yet another social network, what are the best practices for using it?

The seven experts below contend that the site is indeed worthwhile for business, that it’s sort of helpful for SEO, and that their tips can lead to business success there. While some B2B marketers will likely remain skeptical, there’s no sign of Pinterest’s growth slowing anytime soon and the demographics are shifting, making the site at least worth keeping an eye on for now....

9 Steps to Pinterest Web Traffic Success | Social Media Today

9 Steps to Pinterest Web Traffic Success | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
No doubt about it, Pinterest was hot in 2012 having more than doubled its user base since January which should come as no surprise to anyone in the digital marketing world.

There is a big misconception out there that Pinterest is only useful to ecommerce sites. This couldn't be further from the truth. Like any other widely-used social network, just about anyone can find success with Pinterest if used creatively.

I write for five different blogs that cover a number of topics and I use my Pinterest account to publicize almost all of my posts. In jless than a year, Pinterest has leapfrogged sites like Twitter and StumbleUpon to become the number four referred to both of my sites behind Google search, Facebook and Google+ (yes there is value in Google+ if used correctly, but that is a topic for a different day)....

Pinterest deserves a second look by all kinds of business.

8 Real-Life Examples of Engaging Pinterest Contests | HubSpot | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
8 examples of well-run Pinterest contests to inspire your social media marketing.

Running contests in social media can get pretty sticky. Each social network has its own contest-related rules to comply with, and let's just say many of them aren't exactly easy going. If you've ever tried to host one on Facebook, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

But when it comes to contests, Pinterest is a rule hater's dream network. In fact, it wasn't until Pinterest launched business accounts recently that the social network even had a set of official rules or guidelines for running contests, and it's definitely one of the more flexible social networks in this respect. According to its "Logos, Trademarks and Marketing Guidelines" found via business.pinterest.com, in addition to making sure your contest adheres to Pinterest's general Terms of Service and any legal requirements, the following are your official Pinterest do's and don'ts governing contests...
