Most salespeople are sold on the power of LinkedIn. They keep their profiles in tip-top shape, look up their prospects' profiles before calling or emailing, and keep close tabs on what potential customers post in groups. While LinkedIn has a unique focus compared to other social platforms, you can still incorporate it into your social media marketing strategy. You should realize, however, that you won’t necessarily be able to approach LinkedIn with the same strategy you use for your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest marketing.
In addition to serving as an online job networking space, LinkedIn serves as a business-focused social network. In particular, LinkedIn groups function as networking opportunities between professionals across a huge spectrum of industries. This means that your content should be focused on things pertaining to your specific industry, and should help build your business’s presence as a thought leader in your specific industry.
While the content you curate for other social platforms can (and arguably should) have a lifestyle focus, your LinkedIn strategy should center around your industry, and what your business can contribute to that space....

The other day I got an email.It was from LinkedIn, informing me that I would soon be able to “share and record videos” directly on the platform. (Apparently this feature is being rolled out to their most influential contributors first — I’ll take it as a compliment, then.) It’s news those of us in the B2B space have been waiting patiently for, like a labrador with sad eyes, for years. Previously on LinkedIn you could only share videos from other sites. You couldn’t upload video natively onto the platform, as has become so ubiquitous on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others. If you shared a link from YouTube it would embed itself and start playing in-stream (with the sound off), but the experience was still a long way behind most other social platforms....

Brands looking for the most effective ways to market via LinkedIn can now follow the example of a company that knows a little something about LinkedIn: LinkedIn.
The professional network teamed up with Column Five on an infographic containing information from new e-book The Secret Sauce: How LinkedIn Uses LinkedIn for Marketing, including:
- LinkedIn A/B tested a sponsored content post–one that included a statistic, and one that did not. The post with the statistic saw a 37 percent higher click-through rate and received 162 percent more impressions.
- Using a dynamic macro to pull a member’s name in the greeting, LinkedIn sent personal InMail messages to raise awareness about a blog and received 1,240 blog subscriptions (6 percent of total conversions).
- When LinkedIn addressed its audience directly vs. indirectly, it saw a 185 percent higher engagement rate.
