When did you first know that you wanted to be a photographer?

When I was about 28 and saw an exhibition comparing Ansel Adams and WIlliam Eggleston in London (Hayward Gallery I think) and I was blown away by Eggleston and totally disappointed by Adams.

Conscientious Extended | A few thoughts on The Map | Photography Now | Scoop.it

Earlier this Summer, I was teaching two classes on the history of the photobook. The second week, class was moved outside a couple of times for a more informal gathering. History's Shadow: X-rays of Art Antiquities - lens culture photography weblog | Photography Now | Scoop.it

Photographer David Maisel collaborated with major art museums to create a series of stunning photos of x-rays of antique statues, sculptures and fragile vessels. The title of the series is History's Shadow, and the results are immediately compelling as they draw you in through multiple milky layers of translucent materials that could never be seen with the naked eye.
