Congrats to coworkers: PapayaMobile, China-based maker of a mobile social networking platform for Android phones, now has more than 25 million users, up 940 percent since January 2010, the company said today. More than 11 million paid transactions have been made using Papaya’s virtual currency, the Beijing-based company reported. Those numbers suggest mobile app and game developers are starting to get traction on the Android platform. Papaya makes a mobile social network for game developers to use to help their games spread faster and become more social. It helps them make money by letting users buy virtual currency to spend on virtual items in games.

We look for inevitabilities, things that are likely to happen anyway, and make them happen faster, easier, smoother, more fun, or in a more productive/valuable way.
We give our members the opportunities they need to make the things they want to see for themselves. We don't do it for them, we help them help themselves.
That experience is extremely contagious. We haven't had to spend a dime marketing because through that experience, all of our members have stories of their own that are worth telling...

Have you ever typed “I hate my office” into a search engine? Google spits out nearly 6 million results for that query. In contrast, not a single result is returned for “I hate my coworking space”. Space operators must be doing something right. Of course, there are always things that can be improved, especially in spaces where loyal members are missing. As regular visitors to coworking spaces worldwide, we at Deskmag identified some neuralgic points for improvements that could make a big difference to how users experience coworking.

Recently OWNI, a French blog and a form of datajournalism, posted an article applying Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to Coworking. Applied to coworking, Maslow’s hierarchy shows that coworking spaces (and coworkers) must have basic needs met first in order to allow the spaces and coworkers to progress up the pyramid and reach their full potential.
Coworking responds to needs such as:
I need a place where I can be professional for my clients “Not sure the kitchen is the best place for a meeting..”
I need a place where I can be at ease working, home is cramped. “I need an actual place to work – not my livingroom!”
I need people that I can share my professional joys and pains with. “When’s happy hour?!”
I need to be in a more dynamic and creative atmosphere. “I have no one to bounce ideas off of.”
