Curation is a valuable skill for today’s learner. In a culture of content overload, members that provide great content to their audience will be recognized leaders in network communities. Optimally, we equip students to differentiate good content from bad in preparation for their further education and careers. Curating an online topic (and allowing comments) also increases self-awareness and provides additional insight from others. The nuances of sharing content and writing to an audience become much better understood through interactivity between the curator and participating audience. Via Ilkka Olander

I completely agree with this post. I fully integrated it into one of my courses last year. Students had to choose a potential future career and create a scoop.it page to help them learn about that field. Most feedback was positive. A few students still use it seven months after the grades have been turned in!

I am a big fan of Scoop.it. It adds value to my professional career. I find so many things that I am interested in. It is fun for me to try to understand the algorythm. I believe that curation will be a powerful tool for our future.

Skype can connect your classroom to the rest of world with ease. There’s an entire site calledSkype in the Classroom that’s packed full of useful ideas. As you can see in the above video, technology enables classrooms to connect like never before Via Ilkka Olander

The ten ways to use Skype (or Google+ Hangouts, for that matter) mentioned in the article are: "1) Connect with international classrooms 2) Learn a musical instrument 3) Professional development 4) Meet with librarians 5) Guest lecturers 6) Practice interviews 7) Have mystery call! 8) Meet exchange students 9) Give students background tasks while Skyping 10) Parent teacher conferences" ...and may I add from own experience: allow a student, who has to stay at home with a broken leg, to follow or catch up on class.

Kuvassa on netistä otettu kuva, joka on liitetty Copy/pastaamalla word -dokumenttiiin ja rivitetty siten että teksti kiertää kuvaa. Yläpuolella on äänityksen ikoni odottamassa painamistaan. Sekin on tekstikehyksen sisällä ja sitä voi siirtää vapaasti kuten kuvaakin. Tämä on tehty nopeasti ja rumasti, mutta tarkoitus oli vain näyttää, että mahdollisuuksia on paljon.

Kuvan käsittely on suosittua, mutta äänen käsittely voisi olla yhtä antoisaa. Kuvat ovat intiimejä, tosin äänikin, täytyy myöntää. Aivan samoin kuin netissä on paljon kuvia, joita voi omatunnon venyttämisen mukaan käyttää, myös varastoääniä verkossa on paljon. Kuvia voi itse ottaa kamerallaan ja voi myös äänittää pienillä laitteilla, vaikka kasettimankat ovatkin unohtuneet.
