FOR those who come to Britain seeking a safe haven, the day they are granted permission to stay can be one of the happiest of their lives.
At that point they have our country's protection from the threats and violence they suffered in their own, and we can only imagine their relief.
However, while they are in the asylum process, they can face real hardship. Asylum seekers are not allowed to work and once they're granted permission to stay, they almost immediately lose the benefits they had been receiving.
