I’m not a coder. Well, just a little bit. I’ve only had Java at high school. The rest I’ve taught myself. I mostly do front-end stuff now like HTML, CSS and jQuery. I can reverse-engineer PHP if I want to.

The following gist is a basic asynchronous test using mocha and the should bdd style assertion library. Async tests can be challenging because you are testing things that happen at various times. We are going to set a key and make sure the callback function gets called without an error.

Javascript powered way to stream a video camera from a mobile device to a bunch of desktop (or mobile) clients. HTML5 had originally laid out support for a new element (the “device” element) but it appears this element has been scrapped now in favour of the “getUserMedia” API

In the last week or so, I've started to experiment with building server-side Javascript code for Node.js. When you build a Node.js application, you can use the global require() method to load and cache Javascript modules.

In case you’ve been living in a cave for the last few years, you should know that HTML5’s <canvas> is amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we at clay.io have decided to build a company around it.

I like node.js, and I’m not the only one, obviously! I like it primarily for two things: it is simple and it is very fast. I already said it many times but one more won’t hurt.

Ever since I got my Nodester invite I was trying to think of something I could create with it. I'm pretty busy with Bislr, so it had to be something I could do quickly. My first thought was "simulate the entire Earth and extrapolate what is going to happen in the next 100 years", but I realised that it was Saturday and I have been trying to relax on my Saturdays!

It’s been awhile since I’ve published anything, and I think it’s high time I shared some of the fun I’ve been having recently. The most practical of which — JSON — is not new for many people, but when combined with a REST API built in node.js, it all becomes super-cool, super-fast and super-fun to play with. And no, I did not overuse the word ‘super’. Okay. Maybe a little.

For the past N months, it seems like there is no new technology stack that is either hotter or more controversial than node.js. node.js is cancer! node.js cures cancer! node.js is bad ass rock star tech!. I myself have given node.js a lot of shit, often involving the phrase “explicit continuation-passing style.”
