Published in 1999 and now out-of-print, Prinzessin Horst is a story about a place where girls have boys' names and boys have girls' names, like Princess Horst and her brother Daniela. Horst means "woods, bushes", but is not popular now: it had its heyday in the Nazi period and the associations are too strong.

We continue our stay in Texas for yet another profile on an oddly named Lone Star state attorney, one Z.D. Allen of Wichita County. With his name being abbreviated as "Z. D. Allen" by nearly every source I've found, you can imagine how happy I was when I discovered that the "Z. D." in his name stood for "Zelma Deije", which sounds like it should belong to an old white haired woman instead of an old white haired man!

Now, I think people can call their kids anything like they like and I have no issues with Wyatt for a girl. But I question the terminology here. Wyatt is not a unisex name.

So for a while, Zoé was on the list of approved names in Portugal with no specified sex...and then it was labelled a masculine name. However, all is not lost as the similar Zoa is allowed for girls.
