What does the name of your line, ABENI, mean?
Abeni is one of my middle names. It's funny when your New Age-y parents give you several middle names—I have three—and you can pick and choose from them for different projects. My full name is Malu Abeni Valentine Lutz Byrne. Abeni is Nigerian, and it means "We asked for her and she came to us." My parents [her father is musician David Byrne; mother is costume designer Adelle Lutz] had a hard time having kids, and when I finally came along, their good friend offered up this name.
