Data-miner extraordinaire Baptiste Coulmont has analysed the names of Uber drivers in Paris from 2011 to the present, and shown which have risen and fallen in that time.

 

Generally, traditional French names common on older men have dropped in the driver pool, while Arabic names and younger mens' names have risen.

 

And yes, the names here are all men's.

Here's a list comparing the most common names in Germany in the period 1880-1990 (that's a long time!) with the top names of 2015. For example, Anna and Paul are still going strong, while Barbara and Ernst have dropped out of the top 500.


Followed by discussion that you never know which names are going to come back into use after long periods of barely being used at all...and that family trees can be a great source of name inspiration.
