Cliven Bundy may be in jail, but he still has friends in Congress.
This stupid idea looks like the direct result of what Pope Francis calls "diseased leadership."

Wayne Simmons, 62, of Annapolis, Maryland, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
“Wayne Simmons is a fraud. Simmons has no military or intelligence background, or any skills relevant to the positions he attained through his fraud,” said Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

If the presumptive GOP nominee keeps hiding his returns, Congress could force him to show his hand with a one-line amendment to the tax code.

In 2015 ExxonMobil gave $61,500 to ALEC—a group that has spread climate misinformation to state lawmakers and frequently fought against renewable energy proposals at the state level. The company gave $1 million to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has worked aggressively to oppose clean energy standards and continues to prioritize opposing EPA’s science-based finding that greenhouse gases endanger public health. Exxon gave $75,000 to the National Black Chamber of Commerce, which has falsely claimed that “… there is no sound science to support the claims of Global Warming.” The group’s attacks on the EPA’s Clean Power Plan have since been thoroughly debunked by UCS and other experts, and refuted by leading members of the African-American community.

Donald Trump's bid to shamelessly use police officers to promote his campaign, was shut down by New York City's police commissioner Bill Bratton after the Dallas mass shooting.
Kudos to NYPD Commissioner Bratton for not allowing Donald Trump to use the police in the same disgraceful way that war veterans were used earlier this year. Enough is enough.

In March, Virgin Islands Attorney General Claude Walker issued a subpoena demanding that the energy giant produce four decades of internal records related to the company’s understanding of climate change.
Walker, who has accused Exxon Mobil of manufacturing a product that is "destroying this earth," is examining whether the company violated the territory's anti-racketeering laws.

Flint's state-appointed emergency manager told an engineering company to do no more than the minimum required by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality as it helped prepare the city's water treatment plant for full-time operation three years ago, the company says in a statement to MLive-The Flint Journal.

Yes, as Republicans should remember when their convention opens in less than a month, on the one-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s disparagement of John McCain as unheroic because he was “captured.” McCain was captured (with a broken leg and two broken arms) when North Vietnamese shot down his plane. He chose extra years of torture, refusing to leave when his torturers wanted to release him because he was an admiral’s son.
Trump says, however, that he, too, has been “very brave” by ignoring the danger of venereal disease during his sexual adventures: “It is a dangerous world out there — it’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam era. It is my personal Vietnam, I feel like a great and very brave soldier.” He was serious; irony is not in this narcissist’s repertoire.
