Timpson is one of my favourite case studies for Business Management - a firm with an identifiable culture, an ethical position on recruitment and a brand that stands for something. Furthermore, it's a genuine high street success story which has coped, even with tough trading conditions.

 

This article highlights all of these things; it's genuinely heart-warming to see a business which genuinely does change lives for the better.

The American burger chain is acquiring a tech start up that will help it predict customers' orders.
Graham Watson's insight:

An interesting CUEGIS-style article that looks at McDonald's purchase of a tech start-up that is involved in developing AI to "automatically change menus depending on the weather, time of day and traffic."

 

The cost of the deal? McDonald's are paying $300m for Dynamic Yield. That suggests they think that the technology can make a significant contribution to boosting future profit.
