Der langjährige Regierungsberater im Bildungsministerium, Marc Barthelemy, wird neuer Kommissar für die luxemburgische Sprache. Das teilt die Regierung am Freitag mit. Die neu geschaffene Stelle ist Teil des Luxemburgisch-Gesetzes, das vergangenen Juni in der Chamber beschlossen wurde.

Die Regierung will durch verschiedene Maßnahmen die Rolle des Luxemburgischen in der Gesellschaft stärken und die Förderung der Luxemburger Sprache und Kultur «nachhaltig sichern». Barthelemy, der auch Präsident des «Conseil permanent de la langue luxembourgeoise» (CPPL) ist, wird in seiner neuen Funktion für die Ausarbeitung und Umsetzung eines 20-Jahres-Plans zur Förderung des Luxemburgischen zuständig sein. Unterstützung erhält er von einem interministeriellen Komitee.

Der Kommissar soll auch eine nationale Plattform entwickeln, auf der Interessierte sich über die luxemburgische Sprache sowie Weiterbildungs- und Kursangebote informieren können. Barthelemy soll dafür sorgen, dass genügend Luxemburgisch-Kurs angeboten werden und auch Anlaufstelle für Bürger sein, die sich über fehlenden oder schlechten Gebrauch des Luxemburgischen in öffentlichen Ämtern und Behörden beschweren wollen. On Wednesday 10 October 2018, the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, represented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, and the Czech Republic, represented by the Minister of Transport, Dan Ťok, signed a memorandum of understanding on a cooperation in the frame of space resources exploration and utilization.

Both countries agreed to regularly consult and exchange views on their positions regarding the economic, legal, regulatory and technological aspects of the commercial utilization of space resources discussed in international fora and organisations such as the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) and its subcommittees.

Furthermore, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic agreed to promote and to seek a constructive dialogue with other United Nations Member States with the goal to establish a clear and transparent global framework for the utilisation of space resources that may lead to new scientific information and knowledge about the solar system and to valuable commercial applications.

LuxCube: First CubeSat satellite student project in Luxembourg!

LuxCube is first CubeSat satellite student project to be developed at the University of Luxembourg. Having primary educational objective, LuxCube project aims to provide hands-on satellite-build experience to students. Students will learn to design, build, test, and operate space hardware. LuxCube design complies with one unit CubeSat standards of 10x10x10cm in size and a maximum weight of 1.33kg.

LuxCube secondary mission objective is to image the Earth’s surface, particularly Luxembourg, and to evaluate the flight data collected from the subsystems for future CubeSat’s designs.

Wer sich am Wochenende oder abends krank fühlt, den zieht es in vielen Fällen gleich in die Notaufnahme. „56 Prozent der Menschen in Luxemburg suchen, wenn der Hausarzt nicht verfügbar ist, eher eine der vier Urgences auf als eine Maison médicale“, stellt Gesundheitsministerin Lydia Mutsch fest. Eine neue App soll nun Abhilfe schaffen, indem sie zeigt, wo in der näheren Umgebung ein Arzt helfen kann. Damit sollen die Patienten schneller medizinische Versorgung erhalten und die Notaufnahmen – auch in Hinblick auf die langen Wartezeiten – entlastet werden.

Vor allem außerhalb der regulären Arbeitszeiten soll die App DispoDoc den Menschen helfen, einen Arzt in der Nähe zu finden, statt in die Notaufnahme zu fahren. Zurzeit beteiligen sich etwa 15 Allgemeinmediziner an der Initiative. „Eine Erweiterung für Spezialisten ist auch vorstellbar“, so Lydia Mutsch. Bei der Santé ist man zuversichtlich, dass sich viele Ärzte bei der neuen Plattform einschreiben werden.

Luxemburg soll ein neues Radwegegesetz bekommen - und das nur drei Jahre, nachdem der Ausbau der Wege beschlossen wurde. Eine der wichtigsten Neuerungen ist die Planung von sogenannten Radschnellwegen.

Das Fahrrad soll zukünftig immer mehr mit dem Auto konkurrieren können - auch bei längeren Distanzen. Dafür sollen unter anderem sogenannte Radschnellwege sorgen. Auf diesen Strecken können Radler sicher und bequem von einer Ortschaft in die nächste gelangen. Denn nur in Ausnahmefällen wird dort motorisierter Verkehr erlaubt sein. Zudem sollen die Wege nur eine geringe Steigung haben und mindestens 3,5 Meter breit sein.

Mit neuen BTS-Studiengängen versucht man im „Lycée des Arts et métiers“,
Unser Schulsystem basiere immer noch auf einem Modell, das aus dem Industriezeitalter stammt, erkläre Claude Meisch (DP), Bildungsminister. Dass dies nicht mehr zeitgemäß sei, das liege auf der Hand und so müssten sich Innovationen auch in der Schule und in der Ausbildung bemerkbar machen. Dies bedeute auch ein Umdenken in der Bildung. Dass sich dabei das „Lycée des Arts et Métiers“ erneut profiliert, scheint nur konsequent: Vor neun Jahren wurde hier bereit ein Informatikstudiengang gegründet, der eine erstaunliche Erfolgsquote aufzuweisen hat. Denn fast 100 Prozent der Abgänger dieses Studienganges finden im Anschluss sofort eine Arbeit. Ein klarer Hinweis auf den Hunger auf Informatiker, den unsere mittlerweile stark digitalisierte und von Innovationen getriebene Wirtschaft zeigt. Kein Wunder also, dass Claude Meisch so sehr auf den Faktor Innovation pocht: „Wir müssen weiter neue Wege gehen.“

(SW) - Le funiculaire attire quotidiennement 5.000 à 6.000 voyageurs en moyenne. Il constitue l’élément-clé du pôle d’échange intermodal Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg, connectant entre eux le réseau ferroviaire luxembourgeois, le tram, les bus et les mobilités actives.

Seit dem diesem Schuljahr werden in Luxemburg neue digitale Ausbildungsprogramm angeboten. Die drei Zweige des höheren Fachdiploms (BTS) wurden am Montag am Lycée des Arts et Métiers (LAM) in der Hauptstadt vorgestellt. Seit dem 25. September können die Schüler die Kurse «Programming and game design», «Game and art design» und «Internet of things» besuchen. Sie werden auf englisch gehalten. «Mit der Digitalisierung der Wirtschaft muss auch die Ausbildung angepasst werden», sagt Bildungsminister Claude Meisch (DP).

LuxTrust a signé mercredi un partenariat stratégique avec InfoCert, filiale du groupe italien Tecnoinvestimenti (détenu à 56% par trois Chambres de commerce italiennes, coté à la Bourse de Milan, 1 300 employés, 215 millions d’euros de chiffre d’affaires).

Ce dernier acquiert 50% du capital de la société luxembourgeoise spécialisée dans l’identité digitale et le service de confiance qualifié, pour 12 millions d’euros, aux côtés de l’État, la SNCI, la Chambre de commerce et POST. Quelque 4 millions d’euros pourront s’ajouter en fonction des résultats financiers de LuxTrust en 2018.

The arrival of Made In Space, Hydrosat and CubeRover further widens the spectrum of activates of the Luxembourg business-oriented space ecosystem and reinforces the Luxembourg space capabilities.

Étienne Schneider stated: “We have managed to forge for the Grand-Duchy a repute of an innovation-focused and progressive location for commercial space initiatives. The success of our development strategy for the space sector, including the recent launch of the Luxembourg Space Agency, is confirmed once more with the settlement in Luxembourg of three space companies that plan to employ up to 85 people in the Grand-Duchy by 2023.”

Made In Space, Inc. will open a Luxembourg facility focusing on bringing low-cost robotic systems to the European market. Jason Dunn, Founder & Director at Made In Space, said: “We see our robot arms as being integral to constructing space gateways, building lunar habitats, and assisting in the in-space construction of future space stations. Combining Made In Space’s success on orbit with the strategic locale of Luxembourg positions us to develop the best possible product for our customers.”

Hydrosat, a data analytics company that converts thermal infrared imagery from space into innovative business products for agriculture and related industries, will establish new headquarters in the Grand Duchy and move its R&D activities to the Luxembourg operations. Royce Dalby, CEO of Hydrosat, said: “We were attracted by the excellent business environment and the cutting-edge data analytics in Luxembourg. All the elements for success are here, thanks to a strong national commitment to the space sector that continues to grow every day.”

CubeRover, as spin out organization from Astrobotic Technology, Inc., the space robotics company based in Pittsburgh, USA, will develop next-generation planetary rovers in Luxembourg. Mike Provenzano, President of CubeRover said: “With the launch of CubeRover in the Grand Duchy we will enable customers around the world to begin pursuing lunar science, exploration, and commerce with low-cost rovers. Luxembourg is buzzing with talent and creativity for innovative space technology. The Ministry of the Economy and the newly established Luxembourg Space Agency have been terrific partners and we are excited to continue forging relationships with universities and businesses in this environment as we chart our course to the Moon and beyond.

Mit dem Kniwwelino hat das Education-Segment der Mikrocontroller vor einer Weile noch einmal Zuwachs bekommen. Mit Dokumentation auf Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch punktet das Board aus Luxemburg schon einmal im Vergleich zu den deutschsprachigen Konkurrenten Calliope mini aus Deutschland und der Oxocard aus der Schweiz (die wir für Make 5/18 ebenfalls getestet haben). Wie die neue Oxocard setzt der Kniwwelino auf den WLAN-fähigen Mikrocontroller ESP, allerdings auf den ESP8266.

Patienten sollen in Zukunft besser darüber informiert werden, was zu tun ist, wenn sie in Luxemburg krank werden.

Gesundheitsministerin Lydia Mutsch stellte am Dienstag neue Maßnahmen vor, um das Gesundheitswesen und die Gesundheit der Bevölkerung zu verbessern. Zum einen handelt es sich um ein Heft und ein Faltblatt, die darüber informieren, was zu tun ist, wenn jemand krank wird. Das Informationsmaterial soll in Zukunft (auch) allen Bürgern, die aus dem Ausland nach Luxemburg ziehen, bei ihrer Anmeldung bei der Gemeindeverwaltung übergeben werden.

Erste Anlaufstelle sollte immer der Hausarzt sein, wie Gesundheitsministerin Lydia Mutch erklärt. Nachts, an Feiertagen oder Wochenenden, wenn dieser nicht arbeitet, sind bei kleinen Problemen oder Blessuren die “Maisons médicales” zuständig, die es schon seit zehn Jahren in Luxemburg gibt. Sie sollen die medizinische Versorgung sicherstellen, wenn die Arztpraxen geschlossen sind. Wer eine solche “Maison médicale” nach Mitternacht aufsuchen will, muss sich vorher unter der Nummer 112 anmelden. Eine Umfrage hatte allerdings ergeben, dass viele Menschen die “Maisons médicales” überhaupt nicht kennen.

Depuis le 1er octobre, le nouveau bureau luxembourgeois de Maples and Calder propose des conseils en matière de création de fonds, de financement, de droit des sociétés, de droit fiscal et de réglementation associée. 30 personnes ont été recrutées, dont 16 avocats.

Le Luxembourg est devenu la cinquième juridiction de Maples and Calder le 1er octobre dernier. «Le nouveau bureau luxembourgeois (...) offrira des conseils en matière de création de fonds, de financement, de droit des sociétés, de droit fiscal et de réglementation associée», précise le groupe Maples dans un communiqué diffusé le jour même.

Die Universität Luxemburg wächst seit ihrer Gründung 2003 beständig; Forschungsinstitute wie das LIST oder LISER ziehen schlaue Köpfe aus Luxemburg, der Großregion und aus aller Welt ins Großherzogtum. Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten wird immer wichtiger für den Forschungsstandort, aber auch für die Wirtschaft Luxemburgs und Europas – und dennoch fristet die Wissenschaft in der Öffentlichkeit noch immer ein verhältnismäßig unbekanntes Schattendasein, und eine angestrebte Karriere in der Forschung scheint für viele Menschen noch immer eher der Ausnahmefall zu sein. Dass das nicht unbedingt der Fall sein muss und Forschung wirklich ein interessantes Berufsfeld sein kann, betont deshalb auch Dr. Elisabeth John, Leiterin des Schülerlabors „Scienteens Lab – De Labo fir Jonker“ der Universität Luxemburg.

Officiellement inauguré ce lundi, le dernier-né des incubateurs luxembourgeois a présenté 8 des 35 start-up qu’il héberge, lors d’une session de pitchs de 3 minutes qui s’est tenue devant un parterre d’une centaine de personnes venues pour l’occasion.

Du wifi par la lumière, un scanner capable de modéliser l’intérieur d’un bâtiment entier, une application pour partager son vol en jet privé ou encore de la réalité virtuelle pour éviter les accidents de travail… C’est une large palette d’activités qui est couverte par les 35 start-up - trois ne sont pas encore connues - qui constituent le premier «lot» incubé par le LCI.

In just a few days, the second edition of Cybersecurity Week will roll out in Luxembourg. During a period of one week, Luxembourg will have the chance to visit 20 events that speak to sensitive subjects in cybersecurity on the backdrop of companies and their data usage and storage. The initiative is organized and coordinated by the team at SECURITYMADEIN.LU, at the head of which sits Pascal Steichen. In order to better understand what’s at stake in this series of events, we went to meet with some members of the team in their offices at C3, the new skills center in cybersecurity, inaugurated just one year ago in Luxembourg.

La société japonaise Ispace, présente au Luxembourg depuis début 2017, a dévoilé jeudi soir un banc d’essai de 100m2 qui simule les aspérités présentes sur le satellite naturel de la Terre. Objectif: tester le robot qui devra trouver et exploiter l’eau qui y est emprisonnée.

Au lendemain de la signature d’un contrat avec SpaceX pour le lancement de robots à destination de la Lune, Ispace reste sur le devant de la scène. Depuis son quartier général européen, situé au sein du Paul Wurth Incub, la société japonaise a dévoilé jeudi soir un banc d’essai pour le moins étonnant, puisque composé d’un bac à sable de quelque 100m2, simulant à l’identique une partie du sol lunaire.

«Nous avons ouvert cette plate-forme d’expérimentation scientifique au grand public pour donner une plus grande visibilité du secteur spatial et particulièrement du new space présent au Luxembourg», indique Kyle Acierno, directeur d’Ispace Luxembourg.

Composé actuellement de 20 entreprises internationales, employant quelque 70 personnes, ce secteur promu via l’initiative Spaceresources.lu ambitionne de représenter quelque «500 personnes» d’ici 2020, selon les chiffres avancés jeudi par Étienne Schneider (LSAP), ministre de l’Économie, qui se référait aux business plans des sociétés qui ont fait le choix du Grand-Duché.

Luxembourg, Rome. 26 septembre 2018 - Etienne Schneider, Vice-Premier Ministre et Ministre de l’Économie du Luxembourg, a annoncé aujourd’hui le partenariat entre LuxTrust S.A. (« LuxTrust ») et le groupe Tecnoinvestimenti, dont les activités incluent la Confiance numérique, la Gestion & l’information de crédit et les Services d’innovation & de marketing.

Tecnoinvestimenti a signé un accord, par le biais de sa filiale InfoCert S.p.A. (« InfoCert »), la plus grande autorité de certification en Europe, lui permettant d’acquérir 50% de LuxTrust, le principal acteur de la confiance numérique au Luxembourg jouissant d’un important sponsorship institutionnel, via une souscription initiale d’augmentation de capital à hauteur de 12 millions d’euros.

La joint-venture entre InfoCert et LuxTrust est un deuxième pas décisif vers la création du principal fournisseur de services de confiance paneuropéen (« TSP »). Ce partenariat générera la croissance de LuxTrust grâce à une offre de services hors-pair à destination de clients neufs et existants et stimulera le développement international lui permettant d’étendre les activités de confiance numérique sur tous ses marchés de référence.

LuxTrust maintiendra ses centres de données au Luxembourg et renforcera son rôle de principale infrastructure nationale pour les identités numériques et les services qualifiés de confiance. La joint-venture permettra à LuxTrust d’investir dans la recherche et le développement, de poursuivre le développement de ses propriétés intellectuelles et d’élargir les compétences-clés de ses équipes. En outre, le partenariat permettra de garantir la continuité des services pour les clients existants.

Comme l’a affirmé Etienne Schneider, Vice-Premier Ministre et Ministre de l’Économie du Luxembourg : « Ce partenariat gagnant-gagnant constitue une nouvelle pierre angulaire de la stratégie de développement international de LuxTrust étant donné qu’elle permet aux activités de l’entreprise et aux compétences de ses équipes de se développer et sur les marchés internationaux.
