Programmierer, App-Entwickler, Software-Ingenieur: All diese Berufe werden nach wie vor überwiegend von Männern ausgeübt. Kaum ein anderer Sektor hat in Sachen Geschlechtergleichheit noch so viel Nachholbedarf, wie der Technologiesektor. Eine Organisation, die es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat mehr junge Frauen für technische Berufe zu begeistern ist „Girls in Tech“ (GIT). 2007 von Adriana Gascoigne in den USA gegründet gibt es seit drei Jahren einen Ableger der Non-Profit-Organisation in Luxemburg.

The startup will dedicate the funding to recruitment, software development and marketing, coordinated with sequential product launches in cities througout Luxembourg, the Benelux region and Europe. At this stage, Pingvalue is presenting its single-platform solution for developing and supporting “smart cities” to relevant candidates, such as Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg in the Grand Duchy; Heerlen in the Netherlands; Ghent in Belgium, and Aachen in Germany.

Luxembourg-based secure data platform vyzVoice has released its new cloud-based application infrastructure enabling customers to design and deliver application that enable them to easily access, manage and analyse their connected device data.

Entitled Chorus, the infrastructure allows users to utilise the vyzVoice end-to-end cloud infrastructure solution for data management to create high value applications. The platform includes multiple features such as custom analytics, predictive analysis, reporting, notification system enabling the users to transform raw data into valuable assets.

Information such as analytics, graphics, videos in minutes are displayed via dynamic containers called "voices" gathered into dashboards providing a tailored experience for varied users.

Luxembourg now has a private platform for reception and support for startups, Innohub Luxembourg.

Three companies - Exxus (consulting in marketing strategy and innovation strategy), INES MEDIA (communication consulting) and MindForest (change management consulting) have launched InnoHub which identifies, selects, convinces companies to come to Luxembourg and supports innovative companies from around the world that are in a situation of startup and acceleration. To do so, InnoHub builds on synergies that can be created with other players in the public and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Luxembourg.

21 startups supported - €9 million raised - 30 jobs created

InnoHub was initiated in 2015 and adopts a focused and entrepreneurial methodological approach. Less than a year after its creation, the platform already supports 21 startups coming from a dozen countries, according to Daniel Eischen, president of InnoHub. "Our customers come from neighbouring countries, as well as Israel, Singapore and the United States. So far we have raised €9 million and accompanied startups have already created 30 jobs in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the establishment of six innovation projects," added Daniel Eischen.

This success vindicates the Startup Nation Luxembourg

As part of European Maker Week, Girls in Tech and Bee Creative will be holding a creative programming workshop and a tour of the Creative Studio of BASE 1, one of the 6 new maker spaces for youth available in Luxembourg.

From 18:00 to 20:30 on Tuesday 31 May 2016, participants will be able to discover the educational possibilities offered by a Maker Space and how it fosters creativity, particularly for children and teenagers. The event will be a family activity and participants are invited to bring their child with them (minimum age: 10).

The activity will include a tour of BASE 1's Creative Studio, followed by a Q&A session. A creative programming workshop will enable those registered to start designing and programming their own Sphere Ball, a small robot ball that will be able to avoid obstacles and look for light to charge its batteries.

Entry to the event is free but requires prior registration here. The event will take place at Forum Gesseknäppchen, 40 Boulevard Pierre Dupong, 1430 Luxembourg.

Luxembourg start-up Pingvalue announced on Thursday that it has received financial capital of €1.2 million from a Dutch-based private investment fund to support the growth of its community-based social marketing platform.

The funding, provided by InvestInFuture, will be dedicated to recruitment, software development and marketing of Pingvalue, which is headquartered in Luxembourg. These financial resources will faciliate sequential product launches in citires throughout the Grand Duchy, as well as the wider Benelux region and Europe.

Currently, Pingvalue is presenting its single-platform solution for developing and supporting "smart cities" to relevant candidates, such as Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg in the Grand Duchy; Heerlen in the Netherlands; Ghent in Belgium and Aachen in Germany, with a view to contributing to a sustainable future economy.

"We invested in Pingvalue because of the innovative character of the company and we are convinced that it will have a major impact on our daily life," commented Edgard Creemers, General Manager, InvestInFuture.

"With this contribution from InvestInFuture, along with enthusiastic support from our international and local partners, we are well prepared to launch the Pingvalue platform in Luxembourg this summer," said Luciano Scatorchia, Pingvalue CEO and Founder. Pingvalue's free application enables users to discover nearby events, sights or products vetted or recommended by locals and tailored to their unique profiles, tastes and locations. The 12th edition of Hack.lu will take place on October 18-20, 2016, at Parc Hotel Alvisse in Luxembourg.

The opportunity to submit papers for presentation and workshop proposals is now open here. The proposals will be reviewed and selected by the hack.lu program committee.

Last year’s attendance reached a peak with more than 400 world-class security professionals from around 40 different countries. Hack.lu is one of the oldest and largest conferences in Europe on Information Security, which has become an internationally renowned convention within just a few years.

En date du 12 avril 2016, le Vice-Premier ministre, ministre de l’Économie, Étienne Schneider, a présenté un fonds d’amorçage que le gouvernement a créé conjointement avec un groupe d’investisseurs privés pour soutenir le financement et le développement de start-up actives dans le domaine des technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC) qui est considéré comme un secteur clé de la diversification économique nationale.

Dénommé "Digital Tech Fund", le fonds a été lancé sur initiative du ministère de l’Économie dans le cadre de "Digital Lëtzebuerg". Il prendra des participations dans des entreprises innovantes prometteuses créées il y a moins de 7 ans et qui développent des produits qui existent déjà de préférence sous forme de prototype fonctionnel. Le fonds visera surtout, mais pas exclusivement, à réaliser de tels investissements de capital-risque dans des domaines comme la cybersécurité, les FinTech, le Big Data, le Digital Health, les médias ainsi que les réseaux de communication de la prochaine génération, l’apprentissage numérique, "l'Internet des objets" ou les télécommunications et services satellitaires.
