«Savoir pour agir» ist das Motto unter dem die Präsentation der neuen mobilen Anwendung «Meng Loft» steht, die über die Luftqualität in Luxemburg in Echtzeit informiert. «Die App ist ein echter Fortschritt im nationalen Programm zur Verbesserung der Luft in Luxemburg», sagt Umweltministerin Carole Dieschbourg (Deí Gréng) am heutigen Montag anlässlich einer Pressekonferenz.

Die App kann kostenlos für Apple- oder Androidgeräte heruntergeladen werden. «Meng Loft» misst die aktuelle Verschmutzung in der Luft und gibt das Ergebnis der Analyse in Echtzeit mit einem Farbcode auf das Endgerät des Benutzers aus. Dies gebe jedem Nutzer die Möglichkeit «in voller Kenntnis aller Fakten über die aktuelle Luftverschmutzung zu handeln», so die Umweltministerin weiter.

Vielseitige Anwendungsmöglichkeiten

Nach dem Start der Anwendung zeigt diese einen Index an, der auf Grundlage der Konzentrationen von Ozon (O3) (hauptsächlich in ländlichen Gebieten vorhanden), Stickstoffdioxid (NO2) und Feinstaub (PM10) (hauptsächlich im Stadtverkehr) berechnet wird. In einer farblich kodierten Anzeige, die zusätzlich mit den Werten von eins bis zehn versehen ist, wird die Luftqualität am Standort des Nutzers angezeigt. «Die eins ist blau markiert und steht für eine sehr gute Luftqualität, die zehn ist dunkelrot und deutet auf sehr schlechte Werte hin», erklärt Dieschbourg.

L’entreprise en charge du développement de la plateforme publique Copilote n’est autre qu’Ecolutis, la filiale des chemins de fer français spécialisée dans la conception et la mise en œuvre de systèmes de covoiturage sur mesure.

Le marché avait été attribué fin juillet 2017, mais rien n’avait filtré depuis sur le nom de l’entreprise qui avait remporté l’appel d’offres lancé en mars par le ministère du Développement durable et des Infrastructures (MDDI). Copilote, l’application de covoiturage révolutionnaire annoncée par le gouvernement, a en effet été développée dans le plus grand secret.

Turquoise masks in the form of stickers have appeared around Luxembourg City, baffling many people, but that's the aim when you discover what it's all about.

It's all part of a publicity campaign for a smartphone app especially for the Grand Duchy, promoting nightlife, events, finding friends, checking in, and saying cheers!

'Nightler' is an innovative concept, and while there may be several event apps out there, the approach is somewhat different for this app with the turquoise mask logo.

Where are you? Who else is there? And how is it? These are the three basic questions the app works out from using an interactive map to show where you are located and where your friends have checked in to.

It is not an intrusive app either as you need to actually "check-in" to a location before any other app users can see where you are and Nightler never saves your GPS location. You can rate the place you've checked into and as an extra little gimmick when you find a friend you can send them a "cheers" in the form of a little beer glass icon.

Beim “City Breakfast” wurde eine Neuheit für die VdL-App der Hauptstadt vorgestellt. Ein neues Feature, das sogenannte iBeacon, schickt Benutzern der Stadt-App “Push Notifications”, wenn sie an einer Bushaltestelle stehen. Diese Pushnachricht kann laut vorlesen, wann der nächste Bus in die angegebene Richtung fährt. “Wir wollen so vor allem jenen Fahrgästen das Leben erleichtern, die unter Sehproblemen leiden oder gar blind sind”, so Schöffe Patrick Goldschmidt am Mittwoch.

Auch wenn die App für Android und iPhone erhältlich ist, funktioniert iBeacon zurzeit leider nur bei den Apple-Geräten. Erst Anfang kommenden Jahres soll diese Funktion auch in der Android-App implementiert sein.

An Erasmus+ app launched by the European Commission to facilitate young peoples' foreign exchanges is the brainchild of a team from Luxembourg.

The European University Foundation (EUF), based in Munsbach, came up with the idea of creating a central online hub where students and vocational learners can track their progress and communicate with their home and host universities via an app.

The Erasmus+ app, which has been downloaded more than 7,000 times since the launch last month, is aimed at students who want to study at a university in any other country which has a partnership agreement with their home university.

Erasmus first started 30 years ago and in 2014 Erasmus+ was launched, paving the way for partnerships with countries outside of the European Union and introducing volunteering projects abroad to allow for non-academic exchange programmes.

Le ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse vient de lancer « eduBoard », une nouvelle application à l’intention de tous les élèves de la formation professionnelle.

Accessible à l’adresse http://eduboard.lu, ce tableau de bord permet à chaque élève de suivre en ligne son parcours de formation et sa progression individuelle, qu’il soit inscrit dans une formation DT (diplôme de technicien), DAP (diplôme d’aptitude professionnelle) ou CCP (certificat de capacité professionnelle).

Avec « eduBoard », l’élève voit à tout moment combien de modules il doit suivre obligatoirement pendant sa formation, combien de modules il a déjà réussis et combien il doit encore réussir pour clôturer avec succès les différentes étapes de son parcours (progression annuelle, bilan intermédiaire, bilan final, …). Les informations dans « eduBoard » sont mises à jour semestriellement, à l’issue des conseils de classe.

L’accès à l’eduBoard est strictement personnel et sécurisé moyennant le système de gestion d’identité et d’accès IAM (identity and access management) mis en place par le Centre de gestion informatique de l’éducation (CGIE) du ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse.

La plateforme « eduBoard » vient s’ajouter aux 154 fiches explicatives des formations professionnelles offertes dans les lycées luxembourgeois, publiées à la rentrée 2016-2017. Elle complète ainsi le dispositif d’informations indispensables à l’orientation et à la progression des élèves de la formation professionnelle.

A new app to help tourists plan their stay in Luxembourg has been launched.

The app - Luxembourg Card App - is free to download and is the digital equivalent of the tourist pass.

In just a few clicks tourists can buy the Luxembourg Card which gives reductions to more than 60 attractions and museums across the country.

It also allows free access to transport on buses and trains across Luxembourg.

The app also gives information in real time about opening times of attractions and the public transport routes to the sites.

It also gives tourist information about museums, theatres, castles and vineyards and the app recommends places to go according to the user's preferences settings or location.

«Savoir pour agir». C'est avec ces mots qu'a été présentée, lundi, la première application mobile informant, en temps réel, sur la qualité de l'air au Luxembourg. «C'est un vrai plus dans le programme national pour la protection de la qualité de l'air au Luxembourg», affirme la ministre Déi Gréng de l'Environnement, Carole Dieschbourg.

Téléchargeable gratuitement sur Apple ou Android, l'application «Meng Loft» mesure les polluants présents dans l'air. «Elle donne la possibilité à son utilisateur d'agir en toute connaissance de cause, sur la pollution de l'air», affirme Carole Dieschbourg.

On lance l'application qui, instantanément, rend compte d'un indice calculé sur base des concentrations en ozone (O3) (surtout présentes en milieu rural), en dioxyde d'azote (NO2) et en particules fines (PM10) (surtout causées par le trafic urbain).

In Luxemburg gibt es derzeit rund 1.300 Spielplätze. Rund 850 sind in der Website und der App von Spillplaz.lu katalogisiert – und kategorisiert: “Die Anwendung informiert die Nutzer über Toiletten und Gaststätten in der Umgebung der Spielplätze. Auch kann man erfahren, ob Vierbeiner an den jeweiligen Plätzen erlaubt sind oder nicht. Ein weiterer Vorteil: Der Nutzer kann sich Fotos der Plätze ansehen und herausfinden, ob sie von Luxcontrol geprüft wurden”, erklärte Daniel Damasio, einer der Initiatoren, bei der Vorstellung der Anwendung.

Diese läuft in vielen verschiedenen Sprachen: Luxemburgisch, Deutsch, Französisch, Englisch, Portugiesisch, Italienisch – und künftig sogar in Russisch. Eine weitere Funktion: das Melden von defekten Geräten auf Spielplätzen per Button. Die Verantwortlichen von Spillplaz.lu leiten das dann an die zuständigen Gemeinden weiter.

During the CES in Las Vegas, ZF Friedrichshafen, a leading car systems supplier announced the selection of CarPay-Diem to be added to its Car eWallet solution as a service provider for fueling capabilities.

Over the last months, ZF in partnership with UBS and IBM has been in development of the Car eWallet, a mobility transaction platform, that allows a full end-to-end integration of mobility services, vehicles and infrastructure. It will enable secure and convenient payments ‘on the go’ for services like parking, charging and now fueling based on CarPay-Diems technology.

“Connecting the Car eWallet technology to the CarPay-Diem platform will allow connected and in the future autonomous cars to pay for the fuel refills while providing the greatest driver experience.”

Thanks to this partnership, when a car equipped with the Car eWallet arrives in a fuel station, the driver selects his pump number on the display of the dashboard, he is then invited to refill the tank. When the nozzle is placed back on the pump the transaction is completed. CarPay-Diem managed the fuel station processes and confirmed the driver that he can leave the fuel station. A simple and straight forward user experience which conveniently saves time for drivers. All refill transactions remain available in the Car eWallet for later use or reporting purpose for example.

Luxemburg entwirft eine Alarmierungs-App für Notfälle. Das geht aus der Antwort auf eine parlamentarische Anfrage der Grünen hervor.

Die “kostenlose mobile öffentliche Alarmierungsanwendung auf dem Smartphone mit dem Namen GouvAlert.lu wird in Zusammenarbeit mit der Administration des Services de Secours (ASS) und dem Hohen Kommissar für nationalen Schutz (HCPN) entwickelt”, erklärt der Innenminister Dan Kersch.

Die Anwendung ermögliche es zunächst, die Notrufnummer 112 zu erreichen. Hat sich der Nutzer bei der Installation oder später für die angebotenen Geolokalisierung entschieden, werden gleichzeitig nützliche Informationen zur schnellen Positionsbestimmung übertragen  – wie etwa GPS-Daten.

Kommunikation in beide Richtungen

“Auf diese Weise können die Rettungsdienste den Anrufer lokalisieren und so schnell und präzise eingreifen”, erklärt Kersch auf Anfrage von Roberto Traversini (Déi Gréng).

Die App wird aber auch als Kommunikationskanal in die andere Richtung dienen und soll “die Bevölkerung im Falle größerer Vorkommnisse informieren”.

Die neue App der Stadt Luxemburg (VdL) ermöglicht eine Zeitreise in das Luxemburg der Vergangenheit. An sieben Orten sollen Besucher in der Hauptstadt sehen können, wie das Gebäude, vor dem sie sich befinden, früher aussah. Zudem bietet die App die Möglichkeit, weitere Details über die Sehenswürdigkeit zu erfahren.

Unter anderem ist der Royal Hamilius, das Rathaus oder der Großherzogliche Palast zu sehen. “Wir wollen in Zukunft zusammen mit dem City Tourist arbeiten, um so eine Touristenroute auszuarbeiten. Zurzeit sind erst sieben Orte in der App integriert. In Zukunft werden aber noch weitere hinzukommen”, erklärt der zuständige Schöffe Patrick Goldschmidt am Mittwoch auf dem “City Breakfast”.

Die App “VdL-AR” (AR steht für Augmented Reality) wurde zusammen mit einer luxemburgischen Start-up ausgearbeitet und ist seit Mittwoch sowohl für iPhone als auch für Android erhältlich.

Auch bei den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist die Digitalisierung zu spüren. Von einer “Ära der Echtzeit” ist im Vorwort des aktuellen Tätigkeitsberichts des luxemburgischen “Verkéiersverbond” die Rede.

Die Zeiten, in denen die Fahrgäste Busfahrpläne auswendig kennen und bei Wind und Wetter an der Haltestelle ausharren mussten, in der Hoffnung, dass der Bus nicht ausfällt, sind Geschichte.

Der “Verkéiersverbond” treibt die Digitalisierung bei all seinen Diensten voran. Seit September 2016 können die Nutzer des öffentlichen Verkehrs für 50 Linien in Echtzeit Daten abrufen. So können sie etwa erfahren, ob es zu Verspätungen oder Änderungen im Fahrplan kommt.

Der “Verkéiersverbond”
Der “Verkéiersverbond” ist eine öffentliche Einrichtung, die dem Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Nachhaltige Entwicklung untersteht.

Aufgabe des “Verkéiersverbond” ist es, den öffentlichen Transport in Luxemburg besser zu koordinieren. Dazu arbeitet die Organisation eng mit der Luxemburger Bahngesellschaft CFL und den Busbetrieben AVL, FLEAA, RGTR und TICE zusammen.
Plan der Politik ist es, bis zum Jahr 2020 den Anteil des öffentlichen Verkehrs auf 25 Prozent zu steigern.

Um die Daten abzurufen, genügt es, die Seite www.mobiliteit.lu zu besuchen oder die Mobiliteit.lu-App zu nutzen. Einen weiteren Schritt in Richtung digitale Autobahn machte der “Verkéiersverbond” im September 2016 mit der Einführung der Bezahlungsmöglichkeit via Paypal in der mobilen Ticket-App “mTicket”.

A language-free method of teaching maths to multilingual children to put early learners on an equal footing regardless of their home language has been tested in Luxembourg schools.

The programme for iPad, created by two Luxembourg University PhD students, visually interacts with young children, eliminating the added difficulties learning maths through a non-native language may pose.

A study carried out in 2011 showed young children learning basic maths in a non-native language performed worse than those who were taught in their mothertongue.

The iPad tool, which is now in its final stages, was tested in five 'cycle one' classrooms (five to six-year-olds) at two schools, in Grevenmacher and Steinsel.

PhD student and trained psychologist and researcher in developmental psychology, Véronique Cornu, came up with the idea of developing the tool which overcomes language barriers in early maths.

It teaches children through videos, without words or spoken language, using images to explain tasks and give instructions and providing visual-only feedback. 

"Instruction in early education such as kindergarten is very verbal," Cornu explained. "Children who attend a kindergarten in a language which is not their first language sometimes miss the instruction and this makes learning basic maths more difficult for them.

"By creating a non-verbal tool, all children can profit from the same instruction from the start."

Paying for fuel at a petrol station in Luxembourg could be possible from a mobile app before the end of this year.

New technology, created by a team of four people behind Luxembourg start-up  CarPay-Diem, means drivers will no longer have to carry a credit card or wait to complete a transaction at certain petrol stations.

The app, which is set to launch in September with a pilot programme, will automatically switch on a mobile phone as it enters a partnered petrol station through geolocation technology.

"When a user arrives at a station the phone automatically switches on," Chief Executive Officer of CarPay-Diem, Frédéric Stiernon, explained. "The app asks the driver to select the number of the pump and the app then signals when the pump is ready to be used.

"The driver fills up and immediately receives a receipt via the app. It will show the amount of fuel and the price."

Students can see their progression and marks and it's available to people studying various types of diplomas and certificates.

A new app has been launched to help people taking part in professional training to follow their progress online.

Introduced by the ministry of education, childhood and youth, eduBoard is available to those studying for a DT (technical diploma), DAP (professional aptitude diploma) or a CCP (professional capacity certificate).

Students can see how many modules they have to follow during the training, the number of modules they have already completed and how many are left to take. It also shows the student's annual progression, continuous results as well as the final grade.
