AVG: Android Malware Is Pushed via Twitter and Facebook...

“We detected a big increase in the use of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to target Android users. Cyber criminals are finding it very convenient to distribute their malware straight to a mobile device via these networks,” said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, chief technology officer at AVG.

“The growth of the Android platform has been phenomenal, which has not gone unnoticed with cyber criminals who have discovered it to be a lucrative target for their malware. In 2011, Google had to remove over 100 malicious apps from the official Android market, Google Play.”

So What Has Changed Since I Started Blogging and Tweeting?

So What Has Changed Since I Started Blogging and Tweeting? | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

April 15, 2012
By Dave Meister

The first PHSprincipalBlog (changed to Director 4/1/2009) post was on 9/18/2007.  (332 posts overall) I have been using Twitter for 4 years, 4 month...

We still have a lot of work to do, but I feel more strongly than ever before that we are willing to meet the challenges to make our learning environments relevant and engaging. We have the unique opportunity to design and build a new school complex that will be both flexible and transparent and able to accommodate learning for today’s world and the challenges of tomorrow.

I AM SO GLAD I STARTED TO BLOG AND TWEET!

How to Spend Less Time on Twitter and Get More Out of It

How to Spend Less Time on Twitter and Get More Out of It | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
Have you become desensitized and disillusioned with Twitter?

Do you feel like you are suffering from Twitter Tiredness?

Do you feel like you are “tweeting in the dark”, spending more and more time on Twitter but getting less and less out of it?

I know the story. A few months (or years) ago, you signed up for a Twitter account. You dutifully wrote a clever bio, uploaded your picture and started tweeting. Maybe you followed some accounts and learned a bit about the culture and etiquette of the network before sending your first tweet.

After following a few people and building a following of your own, you started following more and more and retweeting more and more, all while spending less and less time engaging in conversations and writing original tweets.

The power of Twitter

How I became a convert to Twitter • The teaching and education community on Twitter is truly inspirational...

Twitter is a fantastic collaborative tool. As teachers, how often do we get to visit other schools? In my experience, very rarely. Twitter has enabled me to collaborate with teachers in schools across the country. Combine this with cloud services such as DropBox and Google Docs and you can create and share resources and ideas quickly and easily.

The site is also a great place for discussion. It is amazing how creative you can be in 140 characters. Teachers, academics, technologists and other experts come together on Twitter to chat and discuss a whole range of topics – you can follow and contribute to these discussions by using hash tags.

What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC]

What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest – What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media?

Some very interesting information:

**Did you know that every 60 seconds Twitter sees (on average) 175,000 new tweets?

**Over that same time period, Pinterest receives 1,090 visitors

**LinkedIn absorbs 7,610 searches

**Flickr users upload 3,125 photos?

**If you think those numbers are impressive, how about this: each and every minute of the day, 700,000 messages are sent on Facebook

** two million videos are watched on YouTube.

What caught my attention - sometimes the comments are just as interesting if not more than the actual content itself:

****Sarah Upton says: February 28, 2012 at 11:23 pm - This is a comment from one of their readers:

Misleading and inaccurate.

You cite an article on Foursquare from AUGUST, then round DOWN. They get over five million check ins per day: http://mashable.com/2012/02/28/foursquare-hq-tour/ — so double what you’ve presented here.

Jumpstart was very apologetic and said they're trying to be as accurate as possible. Point being, these infographics are great to look at and give us an approximation of what's actually happening, trying to keep the facts straight, not an easy task for sure:-)

This data is courtesy of a new infographic from marketing consultancy firm Social Jumpstart, which takes a closer look and tries to be as accurate as possible at what happens in social media every 60 seconds.

21 Warning Signs You’re Becoming a Social Media Snob

21 Warning Signs You’re Becoming a Social Media Snob | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

Ever think you might be starting to take social media a little too seriously?

Sure, it started out innocently enough.

You were hanging out with family and friends, cracking jokes, sharing cool ideas, and having some good old-fashioned fun on Farmville. You know, pretty much like everyone else online.

Without even realizing it though, your perspective began to shift.

The more time you spent on Facebook and Twitter and Reddit and YouTube, the more it sucked you in, and after spending literally thousands of hours involved in online communities, one day it hits you:

Somehow, somewhere, you got… serious.

You started counting your retweets.

You worried about your engagement score on Facebook.
