Aẕís Kwą̂, which means "hide house" in Dane-ẕaa Ẕáágéʔ (the Dane-zaa language), opened in Doig River First Nation this week. It's a place where elders can give youth hands-on experience, teaching them how to cut and dry meat, cure a hide or make a drum. It's the latest development for the small First Nation in northeastern B.C., which has also seen new housing, a prayer house with a daycare program and an education centre spring up in the community.
