It's time for another list of idioms. This time I thought I'd introduce you to some very common idioms we use connected to nationalities and countries. I want to thank Claudine, a fellow teacher fo r giving me this idea. As I was compiling this list, I wondered about the origins of these idioms. Like a lot of languages, the origins of idioms are strongly associated to the cultural and historical ties countries and nationalities have with each other. I’m not going to cover the origins of these idioms in this post, but I’d be very interested in having your thoughts of where you think they might have come from.

From the maker of BUTTONBASS (formerly Button Beats), RecordingStudio.bz is a free student friendly site where students can record, save, listen to online and download their own creations. Just choose an instrumental (many to choose from) and add your own vocals. Very easy to do. This site is a must have tool for classsroom creativity! I think RecordingStudio would also be cool to use with poetry. What a great way for kids to share their own work with music in the background.
If you haven't seen/used Button Bass yet check it out too. It is the most amazing site for kids (and adults) to create music. Play guitars, keyboards, xylophones (new), cubes, drums and more. You can spend hours just discovering everything on the site. My students and I LOVE this site. Your students will love this for indoor recess time too. They can even create in groups.

RecordingStudio.bz is a free, student friendly site where students can record, save, & listen to online music and then download their own creations. Just choose an instrumental (many to choose from) and add your own vocals. Very easy to do. This site can enhance a poetry lesson or serve as part of an enrichment!

With field trips costing money that is often difficult to come by finding a resource that provides you with virtual field trips is a great resource! So let your students know they will be climbing on a virtual bus and possibly going across the country (or to a completely different country) to learn. Museums discussed in this post include: * The World's Most Amazing Museums * The World's Best Natural History Museums * The Best Children's Museums And more. Take the time to click through and see if there is a journey for you and your students.
