MmeHawtree's insight:

I was lucky enough to find an Elmo at a thrift store and being able to use it to show students images up close has been great. Here is a way to make the same thing with your ipad.

What I learned at school today: Digital Storytelling - Creating Books on the IPAD

What I learned at school today: Digital Storytelling - Creating Books on the IPAD | Tablets and Ipads in French Immersion | Scoop.it

There are many apps that can be used to make books with our students. I tried quite a few before we settled on Book Creator.  All had good points and bad. I thought I would share a little about what I learned so it might be easier for you to pick an app that will works for you and your students.

MmeHawtree's insight:

We started using our ipads to write stories this week. Here is a blog article about the tech behind the project.

If you thought you knew everything there is to know about your iPad, you are probably wrong. Apple’s tablet has a lot of features that aren’t obvious and sometimes need to be pointed out in order for you to realize they are there.
MmeHawtree's insight:

Some great tips here on how to type accents easily on your ipad.

MmeHawtree's insight:

There are many apps that allow your students to read and interact with books on the ipad. For intermediate students there are endless options for free or nearly free resources. In french immersion primary however the resources are more limited. There are many picture books available for the ipad, unfortunately many of them cost money and only include 1 book per app.

iPad Apps--by Task

MmeHawtree's insight:

A great list of apps by function. Select what you want your students to be able to do and you will see a list of apps to use for the purpose.

Here are some examples:

iPad Learning ObjectivesI want my students to record and edit video on their iPad. I want my students to record and / or edit audio on their iPad.I want my students to read class content on their iPad. I want my students to annotate course readings on their iPad

Very comprehensive classification of apps by tasks. Really useful if yuo're beginning to use IPads in the classroom!

Camela Giraud's curator insight, March 13, 2013 7:34 PM

I love the way this list is organized--by learning or teaching objectives. Some good tools here.

Dico Krommenhoek's curator insight, March 14, 2013 4:39 AM

Dit is echt een bijzonder handige lijst, die uitgaat van wat je wilt dat een leerling kan.

MmeHawtree's insight:

Another great way to present content to students that they can explore with your help or on their own. Allow students to access the web for information while guiding what they see.

What I learned at school today: Finding French Language Apps for the Ipad

What I learned at school today: Finding French Language Apps for the Ipad | Tablets and Ipads in French Immersion | Scoop.it

One of my biggest frustrations as we test Ipads in my classroom has been finding appropriate FREE or nearly free apps that are in French.  I found a well made website that allows you to search only Ipad apps that are available in French.
