I think he is right on the mark, and what he sees coming next is exactly what will happen.

He also has a great video curation example to show.

5 Ways On How To Use Content Curation On Your Blog By Susan Gunelius

5 Ways On How To Use Content Curation On Your Blog By Susan Gunelius | Curación de contenidos e Inteligencia Competitiva | Scoop.it

This is an interesting and useful article written by Susan Gunelius to curate content on your blog.
Here is an excerpt from article:

"You can curate content that you think your audience would find value in, add your own commentary, and publish it on your blog. As long as you don't plagiarize, break any laws, publish duplicate content, or fail to attribute the source with a backlink to the original content, then content curation is a viable way to bring interesting content to your audience and increase your blog post publishing schedule.
Following are five easy ways to curate content on your blog in a useful, legal and ethical way.

1) Publish Editorialized Content that You've Curated:
It's important to understand the difference between content aggregation, content syndication, and content curation before you can effectively curate content to publish on your blog.

Here are some simple explanations of each:
- Content Aggregation: When you gather links to content and provide nothing else but those links in a single place, you're using content aggregation.
- Content Syndication: Syndicated content is aggregated and redistributed (in whole or in part) for consumption or publishing through a third party.
- Content Curation: When you review content from a variety of sources, gather links to those sources, share descriptions of that content, add your own commentary to that content, and publish all of those pieces in a single location, you're curating content. While aggregation and syndication are primarily automated processes, curation is not. True content curation requires human intelligence, interpretation, and intervention.

2) Publish Curated Round-up Blog Posts:
You could publish a weekly round-up post where you share links and descriptions of great content from multiple sources about a specific topic. You can even add your own brief commentary with each link.

3) Publish Slideshows to Highlight Curated Content from Multiple Sources:
Slideshows are visually appealing and can boost page views for your blog because visitors have to click through each page in the slideshow to see all of them. If your audience likes slideshows, they're great for sharing curated content.

4) Embed Curated Content on Your Blog:
There are a variety of tools that can streamline the content curation process, and some of those tools enable you to embed the content you curate on your blog. Typically, the formatting is done for you, so the process is quick and easy.

5) Curate Content into an Online Video:
You could create a video that includes your insights added about a single piece of curated content or multiple pieces of curated content, publish it to your YouTube channel, and embed it anywhere on your blog. Just be sure to include the URLs to all of your sources within the video and in the written description of the video.

Lydia Gracia's insight:

Looking for Content Curation Tools? Here's Where To Start: The Official Content Curation Tools Universe Map

Looking for Content Curation Tools? Here's Where To Start: The Official Content Curation Tools Universe Map | Curación de contenidos e Inteligencia Competitiva | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Everytime I see a new post or article claiming to list the best content curation tools I know I am in for some disappointment.

Most of these lists just pick up names from other lists without even bothering to check, test or verify what these tools actually do, whether they are still available. Unfortunately the rush to put out "curated" list of tools and services has created more misinformation than useful lists.

But if you, like me, are on the lookout for new and effective tools to curate your own content or the one of your customers, I have created a comprehensive map of all the curation tools available online and I keep it fresh and updated almost on a daily basis.

The map presently lists over 250 content curation tools which you can navigate much more easily than it was possible on my earlier versions of this map.

On the right side of the map you will find all of the news and content curation tools available online today. On the left side, you can find bookmarking, link lists builders, clippers and lots of tools to operate with RSS feeds (which are still at the heart of a curator's job).

The newspaper. One of the most sacred institutions of the publishing world and one of its oldest, most respected methods of knowledge gathering and collection of popular opinion, dating all the way back to the first printing presses ever created.

Eric Moran's curator insight, February 5, 2013 12:42 PM

Having lived through this era at one of the papers on this list. I can attest to much that is stated in this article. People simply digest content the way they want to now, not the way that publishers want it delivered. People now have the power to seek out the content that they want. They can now deliver, create and share content with the many tools avialable. The shift of content power will continue.

Newspapers are doing the best they can to deliver and create content to readers. The problem is, they typically resort to old methods or try to recreate something that user does not want.

I am still convinced that newspapers can thrive in a content rich environment. Perhaps the key is adding value to the print media experience. Although it may seem counter intuitive (what's the value add?) newspapers can act as gatekeepers to content using technology like augmented reality. The use of mobile devices like Smartphones can allow readers of niche publications at least to access further granularity of information through scanning a page and linking to online content. Using this model newspapers or specialist publications can become gatekeepers, sort of print content curators if you will. People (at least some demographics like those over 50) still like the comfort of print, the key is adding value.

12 Attributes of a Successful Content Curation Strategy

12 Attributes of a Successful Content Curation Strategy | Curación de contenidos e Inteligencia Competitiva | Scoop.it

Excerpted from article by Heidi Cohen:

"Content curation is like a great editor who brings his unique taste and understanding of his target audience to his selection of the best content for his readers. He provides context for the content so that it’s more than collection of information.

Content curation chooses the most relevant, highest quality digital information to meet your readers’ needs on a specific subject. It involves a process of assembling, categorizing, commenting and presenting the top content.

Content curation is a core content marketing element for the following three reasons:

- Offering your audience a combination of original and third party content provides a branded -context for your work.
- Curating other people’s content positions you and/or your organization as a tastemaker in your field.
- Creating sufficient content is a marketing and business challenge.

Here are twelve attributes your content curation strategy should have to insure success.

1) Has defined, measurable goals...
2) Targets a specific audience...
3) Contains red meat content, not filler...
4) Follows “the less is more” theory...
5) Incorporates original content...
6) Adds real value...
7) Has a human touch...
8) Provides branded context for your information...
9) Involves a community...
10) Offers information in small chunks...
11) Sticks to a schedule...
12) Credits its creator...

Content curation puts your original content in a branded context for your target audience..."

Each attribute is analyzed with more information. Read full article here: http://heidicohen.com/12-attributes-of-a-content-curation-strategy/

This is a really good article about content curation. There is nothing wrong with doing content curation, as it provides insight from multiple sources. As this article points out, the trick is curating content that adds value to whatever it is that you are adding the content to. In my case, it's my blog. I've followed most of these guidelines instinctively, because I want to provide quality information to share with fellow technical communicators and e-learning specialists.
