To achieve this result, Personify Live extends the capabilities of your favorite web conferencing solution (GoToMeeting, GoTowebinar, WebEx, Adobe Connect, Skype, Lync, etc.) "by extracting you from your surroundings and placing you within the presentation".
"The technology creates a virtual green screen feel for the presenter, for a communication experience that attempts to come as close to being physically present in front of the audience as possible. [Personify Live] extracts live video of the presenter to then superimpose it onto the desktop to create a layer on top of a presentation. There’s also a complementary iPhone or Android app that acts as a remote control, letting presenters mute the video feed of themselves with a click of a button, and interact with the content to emphasize and engage their audience.

Animation Desk is an iPad app (free and premium versions available) for creating short, animated videos. The app allows you to create drawings using just your finger on your iPad's screen. In the free version of the app (the version that I tried) you can create up to 50 scenes in each of your projects. In each scene you can include as little or as much as you want to draw on the canvas. There are a few different brush and pencil effects that you can use in your drawings. The opacity of the colors you choose can be altered too. When you have completed drawing all of your scenes hit the play button to watch your animation unfold. If you're happy with your animation you can export it to YouTube. If you don't like an aspect of your animation, you can go back and edit one scene or all of the scenes.

Thanks for all of your comments and responses to my question. Perhaps the relative success of using Wibbitz depends upon the platform (if that's the right term!) upon which the web page rests. Interesting idea though.

I've had nothing but success using this tool. I've used the RSS feeds from my scoop.it magazines to create a Wibbitz news feed that I've placed on several of my blogs. Platform: Chrome +PC

Here's a technology that any student can use to 'blend' the traditional lecture with online productivity tools.
Take notes and they are wirelessly uploaded to Evernote, along with a sync track of the lecture you're listening to. Very slick.
