How do you do repair a disaster 142 years in the making? That was the question facing Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) when it decided to become involved in a restoration project at the former Mohawk residential school in Brantford, Ont.The organization normally uses volunteers to repair and rebuild houses damaged or destroyed by sudden natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and fires. But when it was asked to help turn the former school into a memorial, it decided to respond.
