The Samhain host-based intrusion detection system (HIDS) provides file integrity checking and log file monitoring/analysis, as well as rootkit detection, port monitoring, detection of rogue SUID executables, and hidden processes.
Samhain been designed to monitor multiple hosts with potentially different operating systems, providing centralized logging and maintenance, although it can also be used as standalone application on a single host.
Samhain is an open-source multiplatform application for POSIX systems (Unix, Linux, Cygwin/Windows).

Eurecom Honeypot Project...
In order to get a more realistic picture of the attacks happening on the Internet as well as their root causes (ie organized crime vs script kiddies) using unbiased quantitative data, we have deployed (and keep deploying) for more than 3 years now a worldwide distributed set up of identical honeypots in many different countries and we centralize all their tcpdump files in a database that all partners have access to for free.
As of today, we have around 50 platforms running in almost 30 different countries covering the 5 continents.

The Avira AntiVir Rescue System a linux-based application that allows accessing computers that cannot be booted anymore. Thus it is possible to repair a damaged system, to rescue data or to scan the system for virus infections. Just double-click on the rescue system package to burn it to a CD/DVD.
You can then use this CD/DVD to boot your computer. The Avira AntiVir Rescue System is updated several times a day so that the most recent security updates are always available.
