James is Professor of Learning Technology and Director of the Macquarie E-Learning Centre Of Excellence (MELCOE) at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. James is a leader in the fields of learning design, identity management, technical standards and open source software/open content for education. He is one of the authors of the Cape Town Declaration on Open Education. James leads the open source "LAMS" project - an innovative digital lesson plan system used by thousands of educators across 80 countries and translated into 30 languages.
